Judging by PPP's comments section I see I am not the only Leafs fan left who wants to see the team win. Glad that someone else will be around to help me cheer them on in eliminating Ottawa in the first round. Ottawa has no tending (none) and one injury gives them the same depth of 28 other teams. This is what I want to do that will give us a shot at the Cup: CLICK TO READ THE REST DAMNIT THIS IS IMPORTANT!
-trade Tlusty, a first and second round pick to Atlanta for Hossa (What get Mats a winger for real? Don't be crazy!)
-sign Hossa in the offseason by demoting Blake, Tucker, and jail bird.
I think that with Hossa, Sundin, Kubina, Kaberle, and Toskala we would have a legitimate shot at winning the Stanley Cup.
In my opinion, in the NHL there are long term buyers (teams that strive to win every year) and long term sellers (teams where it is acceptable to lose every year), and rarely does one join the ranks of the others.
Look at Edmonton. They began by trading Gretzky, then Messier and 15 years later it hasn't stopped. This year I bet they will kiss Horcoff goodbye. If we start by selling Sundin, we will suck ass next year. Then it will be: What can we get for Kaberle? Then guess what? We suck ass the next year and again we ask: What can we get for Toskala? And this goes on and on. 5 years from now it will be: What can we get for our young superstar Strahlman? As soon as we start acting like losers that is what we will have become and it will be very hard to change back.
I don't want to cheer for a team like that. Its not acceptable for the Leafs to lose, ever. Nothing short of a Stanley Cup is considered a success and that goes for every year. I will never cheer for losing to get a first overall pick. We are the class of the league no matter what people say and all Leaf fans know it, even if they don't always remember it. Now let's send a clear message to the Silver Fox to ransack the Thrashers of their race horse because we want to win now and every year from here on in.
