FTB - Back to Business Edition
Well, yesterday's bit of unpleasantness behind us all, here are some links to get us through the day while the Barilkosphere prepares something special for later this morning:
- In case you missed it in the comments, Howard Berger has gone insane. Literally. There are no shortage of reactions.
- TSM wants his head on a pike.
- RepressedOptimism wants it to be a really sharp pike.
- Steve puts on his doctor's hat and diagnoses Berger's disease: Narcissism.
- Sean is better than me because he's actually worried that Berger might have legitimate problems.
- Koopa Kid is wondering which member of the media might be next to stop taking their meds (please be Cathal Kelly!).
- And The General lightens the mood with an easy guide to identifying the Maple Leafs that might be coming to your door tonight.
Enjoy the links and look out for a special Barilkosphere-wide posting later today.
If you write a Leafs blog check your e-mail with which you registered here ASAP for a very important message.

Do you like this story?

I take it
Mr. Berger is PO’ed about the latest news that the Leafs are the most profitable hockey franchise in the history of human civilization?

hahaha Down Goes Brown sent me an e-mail with the same joke.

Ha! I was thinkin' the same...
I don’t read Berger. He’s on the list of people who’ve steered me wrong more often then right and he’s been on the list since ‘95. Since I don’t read him I can’t really comment, but what I have seen has all been garbage.
I honestly thought everyone was going to do Halloween themed posts and was worried mine would get lost in the shuffle.

Really though… Berger does have a good a pulse on what’s going on around the locker room. He has great access to everyone, and generally can get a story better than most people.
His problem is he is a dick when it comes to relaying info to us fans. If he could cut out the self adjulating bullshit and listener/readership insult train, he would actually be a good journalist.

crap
i came over here to post that exact thought…
all inall, i’m on DGB’s wave ;ength. The whole post just didn’t feel like Howie. I mean, some of it was funny, some of it was sad, but none of it PO’d me, because it was unfolding like a car crash. Him lashing out in every which direction…just weird.

seriously
i’ve actually read it a couple times now, and it all just feels weird…i’m very interested to see how this all plays out. half the comments are saying that howie’s right, and the other half are telling him to go hang himself. if those murderous 50% abandon howie’s blog, that might be a swift kick to the ego…

Sad thing is, the percentage that leaves will be minimal because everyone who has been a contributer to this point will stick around to see the tow truck and firemen pull that wreckage of a post apart.
And who the eff thinks howie is right? Do they hand out lobotomies in this country like candy or something?

Riddle Me This
Has anyone here actually met a Berger supporter? You know someone that agrees with his mindless, anti-Leaf fan, anti-Leaf, anti-steak and lobster meal ramblings? I mean someone who isn’t a Sens or Habs troll.
Honestly now my suspicions of him writing his own comments to boost his positive image are viable after that schizoid blow up.

Never
Not even the most OKIA of Leaf fans ever agrees with Berger. Cox maybe but never Berger.

Getting Winkle fired without posting NFSW links.
And damnit it all to hell, why does the shitz only hit the fan on Fridays? I come into work with only one thing on my agenda to do for today and 2 hours later I’m suddenly buried under like 4 projects at the same time and they all have to be handed in before 5.
Bullshit!!

which reminds me...
“The always accurate media” line killed me especially because he followed it up about how the 3 wins in 4 was going to move the Leafs into their habitual 11th or 12th place.
Habitual? Does that moron know what the word means because if there is a spot the Leafs have not habitually been in over the past decade and a half it’s 11th or 12th.

I honestly wonder if Cox isn’t part of this whole thing somehow.
Berger took a few shots at the media in a recent posting (remember how 90% of the media swallow whatever the Leafs give them?) Then he concluded with a pretty obvious shot at Cox (mentioning how we wouldn’t go on and on about Jim Benning, Gary Nylund, etc.)
I wonder if Cox, or one of the other media bigshots, told him to go piss up a rope? And like the wannabe-popular kid who finds out nobody likes him, he decided to shoot up the school.

That's a nice representation
of my job history
I got one better, from my current job
This is what I did on my 5th day on the job (2nd day in the field).

I did the impossible, I got a tracked all-terrain Bobcat stuck costing the company a $150 tow to get out.
