I had a roomie who was once totally perplexed by the fact that in the States, Rockets are called Smarties, and the Smarties as Canadians know them do not exist in the States. It took like 10 minutes of explaining before she understood it

it seems like in my experience, anyone who says “I want a smart woman/man” they really forget to add in “…as long as they aren’t smarter than me.” Add in that apparently being a single woman is a fate worse than death, it makes me wonder why I even bother trying to be intelligent when I’m going to fail either way. then I remember, I actually like being strong independent, etc, and I don’t need a relationship to validate my existence.

They weren't bad.
He was just more insecure than he seemed at first and nervous about being shown up. He shouldn’t have been, though – he was a sweet guy and had a great sense of humor. He wasn’t all that stupid or anything, either – he wasn’t well educated, but was pretty well read and very thoughtful.
