Fuck that.

Wendel moment #12 was pretty freaking sweet. I remember like it was yesterday. I used to hate Cujo back then. That game 7 was incredible.

I still have The Toronto Star from the day after. Gilmour was on the cover, with his mouth open hollering after he scored the sixth and final goal of the game, and the words “VICTORY!” were emblazoned above him.

I think I’m going to cry…

I remember being so nervous and thanking the Leafs for making it a blowout and saving me an ulcer at the age of 9.

Hey floridaLEAF

I have a question for you. Your SPG picks have been rather strange lately… what’s up with picking Joseph and Toskala for every category?

by general borschevsky on Nov 10, 2008 12:44 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

You’re right. It was a romp. I think Foligno scored that night as well. I really loved Foligno.

Oh, what I’d give for a game seven.

I posted it over on DGB, but that is the absolute definitive Wendel moment for me. I still remember thinking, “Did that just happen? Did Wendel’s slapper actually peel the mask off Cujo’s face? Is Cujo’s face OK? Is he insane? He should have ducked! That was AWESOME!”

All those thoughts at the exact same time. And the hush over the crowd, follwed by instant mania, makes me think I wasn’t alone in that discombobulated thought process…

The votes are in

Apparently the Cujo slapper should have been higher on the list. My #1 moment (Wendel picks up the second assist on the opening goal of a pre-season game in 1987) is going to seem like a letdown now.

Oh well, I’ll just re-order everything in December and then deny anything changed.

DGB – I think you’re confusing your #1 Wendel moment with Steve Stamkos’ biggest accomplishment to date.

How could DGB not? That magical assist should be emblazoned on everyone’s mind. It’s like the Hand of God, but less actual touching.

I have a question-

Does Sundin have a kid? A baby? Does anyone know for sure ‘cause I didn’t think he did but maybe I’m wrong.

by general borschevsky on Nov 10, 2008 2:42 PM EST reply actions

Is he

even married? I know he had a girlfriend for like… ever… not sure if they got married or not, but Sundin has no children that the public or media is aware of

thanks Winkle

Just wanted to make sure I hadn’t missed anything obvious. Okay- next question: why is Matthieu Schneider saying that Mats Sundin has a baby and that’s why he wouldn’t want to play for a Western team.

Schneider sees Sundin playing in the Eastern Conference, not the West.

“He’s always kind of maintained that he wanted to play in the East,” Schneider said. "I think it’s the travel. He has a young baby now, and it’s so much more difficult with the travel in the West.

What?!? Is he thinking of someone else? Is he a moron? Why didn’t the writer correct him or verify this statement before publishing it? Or, did Schneider just let the cat out of the bag? Does he know something we don’t? Is there a secret Sundin Jr.?

by general borschevsky on Nov 10, 2008 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

Baby Mystery

Maybe that was Schneider’s way of poking fun at the fact that Mats’ fiancee is only 25.

Or the writer is a dumbass.

Ouch! But I think that’s it. And the writer is a dumbass.

Yup

I think that’s the jab and the writer doesn’t know squat

Sundin is

now married. If you watch the Poker Stars ads, there’s a wedding ring that’s clearly identifiable.

Though I’m sure we would’ve heard if there was a baby already.
