Since Crosby has been compared to Gretzky from Day One. Apt comparison or not, at least Crosby has a few individual hardware to claim as his own. And it’s the whole “old versus new” theme going on, even if a little blasphemous as you said.

Sure it’s easy to argue with it since Lecavalier performed noticeably better when he’s north of 20+ minutes. And Stamkos is offensively talented, but when you don’t play him on the PP consistently, how else is he going to earn it nailed to the bench? He doesn’t play on the pk or any important minutes. And it still doesn’t explain why Recchi gets 20 minutes a game when he isn’t the future or the cog to get Tampa out of the funk.
