The only downside
would be that we’d be on the permanent penalty kill, as he’d keep doing it and because he’s always on the ice, there wouldn’t be the respite of him sitting on the bench in between shifts.

I can almost guarantee it will be a legitimate question. First goal against was obviously stoppable, but he can’t complain about the compete level.
Could have done a better job of getting pucks in from the perimeter before Boston was able to collapse around Thomas.
Sometimes the team gave up shooting options for the pass.
Can’t complain about the effort coming off a road trip.

Tosk’s a small goalie, playing too deep in his crease. He’s got to get that tendency out of his system.
Decided after the first to just roll 10 forwards after the first. Thought he’d try Steen with the Hagman combo.
Team doesn’t move the puck fast enough on the 5 on 3 PPs. Gonna spend a few days working on this. Team needs a right handed forward.
Ian White has done a great job upfront, as a right handed shot, he may find himself playing forward on all 5 on 3s.

Leafs TV always carries it live as part of their post-game (and before Cox can hang this Leaf loss on me, we don’t pay for Leafs TV, Rogers gave it to us for free).
Wilson seemed very calm and even keeled. Said about six times that he couldn’t complain about the team’s effort.

Thomas said he felt that he got better as the game went on…

Not anything groundbreaking I take it. I do like the fact White is playing himself onto more important roles. This can only be good for his confidence and his trade value, if the Leafs ever decide to move him (it’s almost inevitable if Burke ever comes on board).
Toskala does worry me though. It’s not like he’s down on himself at all or visibly shaken like Raycroft was so many nights, but something isn’t right about him. I don’t think he’s hurt, but it’s like he’s not seeing the puck properly or something.

Leaf goalie coach is Corey Hirsch. In the post-game newswer, Wilson said that Hirsch is currently down at the ECHL working with Reimer. They’ll show Toskala tape tomorrow and then when Hirsch returns later this week they’ll get Vesa working on his fundamentals. Wilson also said [paraphrasing] that he doesn’t like his goalies to make changes or adaptations on game days, so the practices this week will be important…

Should have stopped the first one – was a tough start.
I didn’t feel that great at the start, but felt better by the end.
We need to get better defensively, sometimes we play great hockey but we have difficulties to keep it together for 60 minutes.
Berger: “are you concerned about your numbers this year?”
Toskala “I never worry about numbers, I’ve only let in a few bad goals so far this year, but we need to tighten up defensively…”

Hmm, I wonder what is he referring to specifically with the improving defensively part. The PK? General breakdowns? I guess I could argue that when those breakdowns occur, Toskie has to bail his teammates out sometimes.
As I said, he doesn’t seem to be too down or particularly bothered with his own play, but is he calling out his teammates or am I reading too much into those aforementioned words?

If Blake can use it in a 6-1 blowout loss, I think anyone can use it anywhere. Though c4c might want to minimize if he wants to live with you around. ;)
We did win…I was very un-Tosk-like tonight, which was a good thing. I was a little dehydrated by the end and let in a couple that I would like to have back, but ultimately we prevailed.
I’m now icing my hammies.
And I’m recovering from a whirlwind week…all good.
Thus, inappropriate FIST PUMP!

Time to stop blaming the defense for Vesa's problems
Seriously. The popular excuse lately to cover for Vesa Toskala has been that the defense is not helping him. Just look at the shot totals though from tonight, and the game against Vancouver.
The defense is doing an excellent job of not allowing many shots. Not to mention they are near the top of the league in blocked shots. No, its not their fault. Vesa has just plain sucked this year, and there is no excuse for it.
Time to give Pogge his shot. He cant possibly do any worse.
