Jeff Jackson, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today the appointment of Jim Hughes as assistant coach of the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies. Hughes will rejoin Greg Gilbert and Joe Paterson on the Marlies coaching staff. In keeping with club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
"Jim has an excellent record of developing NHL players and has a distinguished career as both a coach in the NHL and AHL," said Jackson. "Hughes' familiarity with Greg's coaching style, along with their previous success in Toronto will prove to be an invaluable addition."
The Bronx, New York native was part of the Marlies coaching staff from 2006-08 before accepting a head coaching position with Minsk Dynamo of the KHL. Last season, Hughes was responsible for the Marlies number one ranked penalty kill in the AHL.

So...if he was able to get the Marlies the top ranked penalty kill in the AHL is there any chance that he might be able to do something on the big club with one of the worst penalty kills in the league? Maybe he could replace Teflon Act-on (it rhymes this way...)?
I guess Minsk isn't quite as great as Rochelle, Rochelle made it out to be...
