I was in Kitchener yesterday
For work.
Took me 3 and a #%&@ing half hours to get home.
I had incompetent drivers, which are like 99.5% of the drivers on the road around here. They see 4 snow flakes on their windshield and they start flying off the roads at 20kph.
Oh yes. Full blown angry pissed off Winkle is back.

Yeah, things were bad. My theory it’s not people forgetting how to drive in winter but all of the new people that have never done it.
Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
I don't know
My mom’s been driving for years, but the first snowflake sends her into blind panic. She just starts driving really slowly though.
I can understand that
But if you’re going to do that, will you please move your fricking butt into the slow lane?
I get thrown into a murderous rage when the car in front of me is doing 50 kph on the fast/passing lane when the next car in front of them is about 2 km down the road.

did VATS improve at longer distances? I always seemed to have terrible percentages even with a high small arms skill. That’s with the full on sniper rifle too.
by LeafFanInVan on Nov 20, 2008 4:02 PM EST up reply actions
Depends
Really had to try your luck, but yea the percentages were generally pretty abysmal even with the scoped sniper rifle, 100 small arms, 10 perception and 10 agi. But the percentages are weird, if it’s around 50% it’ll still connect more often then not… I can’t tell you how infuriated I got after missing for the 3rd time in a row when the hit percentage is 95%.

For a while we had Telus for internet/phone/TV, but their customer service was non-existent.
This modem/router combo drives me insane though. :(
I have a hate on for telus, I’ve got their cell phone service and have had 3 cells die on me over two years. You go into a store and they cant (literally are not allowed) to do anything but sell you a new phone, you have to call their help desk in india to get them to give you a “credit” so you can to into a store and get a new phone, it is barely worth the effort, which is the idea.
Because Taking The Leafs Seriously Is Not An Option
by JaredFromLondon on Nov 20, 2008 3:55 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah, I have a similar hate for Telus. I still have them for my cell service because I bought the cheapest one I could at the beginning of my two-year contract in Sept. 2006. Said phone would turn itself off and eventually, would not really turn on at all come May of this year. I didn’t like my options of waiting out my contract without a phone so that I could escape in September, or having to purchase a new phone, so I sucked it up and signed a new contract with them and got a new phone.
I mean, at least my plan isn’t bad…but it’s the principle of the thing. Stupid Telus.
Not to mention I had to send my new phone out for service in July because it wouldn’t hold a charge. At least that problem’s been fixed now.
Might

No...
I essentially know enough about this stuff to have set up the wireless network. In terms of fixing it when it goes down, the only thing I know how to do is go upstairs, unplug the modem, unplug the router, plug them back in, and see if things work.
Interestingly enough, running MSN on the laptop wirelessly seems to kill the connection. I don’t know why, nor do I understand how this is even possible, but not running MSN on the laptop seems to result in me having to run upstairs and “fix” things a lot less.
It really is.
It is the ONLY reason that I miss Telus – discounting when they disconnected us for a week “because they had to change the name on the account” (WTF), that internet NEVER went down. I could be on the wireless on both laptops and the PS3, and wired on my desktop, and it was never anything but completely happy.
The Shaw doesn’t seem to ever mess up when I have it directly connected to my desktop upstairs, but as soon as I involve the router…bam.
Hrm...
Linksys routers are generally pretty good. I’ve had Linksys, D-Link, SMC, and Netgear routers and Linksys have been by far the best.
I get weird hiccups on my current D-Link where it refuses to assign my laptop and IP even though the other two laptops in the house, the PS3 and my Nintendo DS Lite never has issues with the wireless. I have to reboot the router to solve that problem.
I would google your problem, or even try updating the firmware on that thing.
If you don’t know how to do any of that stuff on your own, find someone who does or google around, it’s really quite easy.
"God's in His heaven. All's right with the world." - Robert Browning (1812-1889)
Yeah, it’s one of those problems I keep meaning to deal with…and then I get lazy. :) I’ll google it though – I can’t be the only person in the world that has ever had this issue.

"God's in His heaven. All's right with the world." - Robert Browning (1812-1889)
The only thing
that worked for me, was installing the linksys software on the desktop. Once I got that installed and set up, even though it really changed nothing on the network, the router’s been perfect – I think it’s been 3 mos and I haven’t had to reboot it yet.
by Karina on Nov 20, 2008 4:33 PM EST up reply actions
That software
messed it up even worse for me. Things work better without it…but that’s not saying much.
hmm...
I see that we have the same router as well…

Otherwise, I’d call up an IT friend and make him dinner to fix it for you…
