FTB - Happy Thanksgiving Americans
Hey Americans, enjoy your day off and the turkey and being thankful. We'll be up here trying to look busy and avoid getting dinged by the financial meltdown that you guys caused. We're just thankful that 53% of you smartened up. Not that your Thanksgiving date makes sense. The harvest came in weeks ago!
- Junior wrote an opus on Burke and other candidates that could have been hired.
- 11 people voted wrong in this poll so far.
- Hey look, Greg Brady replied to one of TSM's commenters again. Not that he replied to my e-mails after the first time. Jerk.
- There's a Battle of Ontario liveblog going on and I'll be there and here in the intermissions until I have to go play soccer.
- And apparently there's a problem with the most important team in the league getting some media attention when making the most important hire in club history.

Anybody know what George McPhee’s contract status is with the Caps? I tried to figure that out for my post on the Burke decision, but either my Google skillz weren’t sufficiently well-developed to produce an answer, or the answer to this question is a closely guarded national secret (and, because I am not a 14-year old in a Hollywood movie, I cannot access with six keystrokes from the family Commodore 64).
I emailed JP at Japers Rink, but I’m assuming he’s a little busy with the transition to the new blog and all.

According to the Washington Post archives, McPhee signed a deal in 2005, unfortunately the article doesn’t list the term. I would guess, at minimum, it would be a three year deal with a club held option for a fourth.

This other teams fans bitching about how Toronto getting all the media has returned to being funny in my eyes.
Do they really not know why? Does it really not make sense to them?

As a Leafs fan who has never lived in Toronto, or Canada, I rely on the internet pretty heavily to follow the team. This site has been great.

As one of the 53%
I would like to thank PPP, Chemmy and everyone who makes this site so much fun, interesting and educational. I like our date better because it means I get my birthday off every couple of years. I am not a mortgage broker, stock broker or republican congressman so I feel no responsibility for the economic meltdown, but I will be spending freely this holiday to do what I can to help. Today’s schedule: football, turkey, football, turkey, football, pumpkin pie, LEAFS….what a day!

Um… do people outside of Toronto not realize that they’re all hicks? Maybe I’m insulated having not ventured north of Bloor in like a decade but the reason TSN and CBC and everyone else pays so much attention to Toronto and the Leafs is because Toronto is the only important part of the country and the rest of Canada just exists to provide us with oil for our cars, hops for our beer, french strippers for our gentlemen’s clubs, and farmboys for our blueline. They should be kissing our asses for letting them call themselves citizens of the country that contains the awesomeness that is Toronto. Wake up everyone who is not a Leafs fan and has an area code other than 416 and a postal code that doesn’t start with M – you suck, we rule, and TSN exists to provide us with news about our teams. If we ever get an NFL team they’ll finally be able to stop using highlights from out of town games as filler… we can only dream!

I did say anyone who is NOT a Leafs fan and doesn’t have a 416 (and I suppose 647) area code is lame and/or of weak character and questionable parentage. So yeah, still okay…
