The Leafs seem to be taking a lot of their opponents personally. Not only are they defending each other, but they revel in getting some sort of unrequited “revenge” on the other team. I haven’t seen this much emotion from the Leafs certainly since the lockout.

Only problem with that
Is if someone like Ovechkin hits someone like Tlusty in the playoffs, what’s to stop the Leafs from fabricating Tlusty’s injuries so he’s out longer
Especially in playoffs, when players play through pain. So maybe they’d sit that 4th liner with “soreness” if it kept the star who hit him illegally out.
Guess if the illegal hits didn’t occur, people couldn’t complain, but it also might have a bit of an adverse effect on the amount of hitting going on overall
I’m sure there would be some exaggerations as you say. But with disclosure comes better insurance claims. The whole point of disclosure (for insurance purposes) is also to make sure they don’t get screwed from paying more money. The insurance companies will make damn sure there won’t be any funny business so they don’t pay more money than they have to.
The insurance company pays for all injuries, or just major ones? I am quite ignorant to how things like that go on in the NHL.

I don't hate him
But he’s trying to do too much. I think we can all agree Blake’s never going to approach 40 goals, but he’s still playing like he has to pot 40 goals, plus be an effective checker. He’s confused right now and unfortunately, he’s costing the Leafs chances and ineffective breakdowns in the offensive zone. Someone on the coaching staff needs to tell Blake he has to play a similar role to Moore. I’m not sure if Blake is willing to fall into that role though.
he is the classic example of a guy who comes to toronto and has his career go down in the flames of FAIL.

I’m conflicted to tell you the truth. I want Blake to do well, too, if only to make the contract more palpable (not that it matters now). But if Blakes struggles means the younger guys on our team gets their opportunity and takes over the scoring role, I’m all for it. In the end, I think I’m willing to take Blake struggles over the prospects stinking up the joint.

Agreed. And that all comes to confidence. His not being happy shows me that he’s a competitive SOB and is havin trouble falling asleep at night dealin with his struggles.
I don’t want a guy to be like Raycroft and say, as the season ends without the playoffs, that he’s happy with his season. I want him to be pissed off.

for him to justify that contract when he’s playing 13 minutes a night on the third or fourth line…but that’s what he deserves, because he simply hasn’t been that good…
That’s pretty much what it boils down to in the end. I don’t understand what the point in ripping your fellow Leafs really amounts to as well (isn’t it pretty crappy that you’re badmouthing a guy on your team that needs to do well to make the team more successful?), but I can see the frustration with players like Blake.
The bottom line is, the worst thing Blake could have done was to sign with the Leafs. The Leafs weren’t a good fit for him, but damn it, he wanted to succeed here. The troubling thing to me is that he wants to succeed so much, it’s affecting his linemates and generally bringing them down unfortunately.
I don’t get the constant Blake rippin as well. Same with Ian White. I wish this fascination with having one guy we all rip on would die. It’s pointless. We all want the Leafs to do well.

Obviously we want all the Leafs to do well, but just cause they’re Leafs doesn’t mean we have to love them unequivocally. Right now, at this time, I don’t like Blake because to me he’s not putting in the effort that is needed, or adapting to the system well enough.

Same with White. It seems one scapegoat is always required.

I dont know what can be said negatively about him, because his flexability has completely saved the team numerous times when other D men went down (tonight for example) and stepped up to fill the hole. Plus, he’s been playing his heart out
