FTB - Huge News
There is some massive news coming out of Toronto today. Much bigger than the loss of Fredo. Justin Pogge will begin his NHL career Monday against the Atlanta Thrashers. The other big news is that Luke Schenn's knee was so sore that he couldn't skate yesterday. I am not sure if it's actually a set back but it's definitely not the best of news. Anyway, hopefully Pogge plays Tuesday night too since I'll be there and I want to see his home debut.
Anyway, here are some other links for a snowy Sunday:
- Alec liked most of what he saw including Kulemin on the fourth line. If that fourth line had White and ummm a guy like Steen (or Tlusty) I'd be more comfortable with Kulemin being down there.
- somny continues to uncover some gems including a picture of Satan.
- DGB has more on Mats (hee hee).
- Friend of the site Pat Quinn is enjoying his time with the juniors. I could have told them that months ago.
- Hey look, we made some friends in St. Louis.

This is awesome. I have been yapping for a while that Pogge needs a shot.
Ain't nothing but puck drops and poke checks, babydoll.

The Vesa
Isn’t hurt, he just jacked up his trade value something good, now they are giving Pogge his shot.
If Vesa comes back and is bad again, they can blow it off as rust and his value will hold!
Its win win!

Toskala missed some time with a groin injury last season and because he has played so much this year — 28 of 32 games — he tweaked his problem area.
That’s a little too much information for a family newspaper.

Annual Event
I think Vesa just likes to extend his holiday season and play some xbox. Every year around this time he goes down with the groin. Bloody pansy.
Coach Wilson: OK Justin, this is a huge game. Do you know what to do in this situation?
Pogge: Absolutely!
Pogge puts on a baseball cap and sits on the end of the bench.
Coach Wilson: Fuck Greg Gilbert.

My prediction
is that Toskala doesn’t finish the year as a Leaf. How ‘bout Cherry’s ridiculous manhate on Wilson taking him to new levels with his picking on our new tough guy. Deveaux did what he was told in not fighting earlier, because he is trying to make the NHL. Maybe if Cherry would have done what he was told he would have played more than 2 games in the show. Honestly, I didn’t fell the lead was safe until our 6th goal. If Deveaux had gotten shit halled it might have lost us the game.
Pretty much every coach’s corner that I care to watch just gives me more proof that I shouldn’t listen to a god damn thing that cherry has to say.
Give me the hotstove guys any day of the week – although the milbury/hrudey brain trust in the 2nd game were also pretty idiotic about “the code”.
The fighters checklist should go like this:
Did someone attempt to injure myself or one of my teammates?
Does my team require a spark to get going?
Would a fight NOT provide the other team with the aforementioned spark?
Will the guy I’m about to fight not totally kill me?
If any of those questions, in that order of importance are answered yes, then FIGHT!

Cherry
Especially since everyone goes on ad nauseum about how the Penguins can score so many goals so quickly that no lead is safe. That means you don’t risk firing them up and giving them any chance to get back in the game at any point – which is likely what Wilson was thinking.
And I grow to despise Mike Milbury more each time he opens his clueless mouth and spews nonsense.

Do you think every other blog on here gets jealous about how many comments we put into every game thread?

I hope so.
I watched the Penguins game sitting on a barstool on the beach, sipping cheap beer.

For avoiding the snow and cold and wind and shoveling out the plow leavings at the base of the driveway and scraping ice off the car windows … or just on general principles?
Because I’ll join you in the first option. :)
