It has to be something simple...
that Joe Bowen wouldn’t come up with in his rambling descriptors of the goaltenders right before the game…
I vote for something like “legs” or “bootlegger” << which would be a direct reference to his modelling career… plus it brings in all sorts of imagery of rye running across the border… and protecting the economy of Canada by capitalizing on the downturn in the U.S.

I wonder..
Do you think that perhaps the Leafs got too used to years of excellent goaltending (Classic Cujo, Eddie) that now pretty much any goalie they get in there is just assumed to be awesome? Like, “come on, we have the goalie to fall back on! they always bail us out! Wait, who’s that guy in the net?” and not even the suck times of Raycroft and Toskala have shifted this view?
I’m guilty of it myself, I had thought Toskala was still good way past the point it was pretty obvious he isn’t..

Yah, despite that sucking I’m thinking that leaf fans and possibly management still hang on to the idea that the goaltending is good, even when it isn’t. Like just by playing for the Leafs an average goaltender will become some kind of crazy acrobatic cujo/eddie/potvin hybrid. Sadly, that is not the case!

Seriously, the thing that really upsets me is that the Leafs can’t stay above .500 this season. They are like that person who wades in to the water too deep and doesn’t know how to swim.
