FTB - So That's What a Contender Looks Like
At least Grabovski, Kulemin and Hagman did their thing, I suppose. Losing to the Sharks, who at 21-3-1 are on pace to finish with 141 points isn't terrible. Triple P will have a recap up this afternoon.
Links from around the Barilkosphere:
- Torontosportsmedia has a quick recap up. He also has a story published on NHL.com, congrats!
- Steve @ Hockeyanalysis thinks the Leafs are trending on an upswing, mostly based on the performance of Vesa Toskala.
- Alec Brownscombe has a recap of the LA game up.
- Richie wonders what Burke is going to do. Me too.
- If Gillett hurts Liverpool I will burn down the Bell Centre in February when I go.
Finally, in the spirit of contests, I'd like to welcome everyone who registered yesterday: richiee, LondonKnights, and Bobby Paradise. Welcome aboard! People who are reading this and don't have an account: it's really easy to sign up, I promise we won't spam you, and you could win a Leafs jersey, or the memorabilia only given out at Wendel Clark night in our Holiday Contest!

Also, thanks to the Late Night Kid, aka Sir Smoke A Lot aka eyebleaf for holding down the fort after I passed out last night.
This West Coast trip would have been a lot more fun if I were still in college. You kids get off my lawn!

What you need now
is a pepper spray hose

I'd rather have
a ranch dressing hose

I’d say ask PPP if it’s in the budget, but we all know the answer to that already

The problem isn’t the budget, it’s the paperwork. PPP Amalgamated Heavy Industries requires Chemmy to put a request into about 5 different officesa ll in triplicate. That’s a lot of work to be able to hose you guys down.

Are you saying you want to hose LD down with ranch dressing?

I’m asking — nay, demanding — a PPP vs Chemmy faceoff about Tomas Kaberle and how terrible he is this year.
It worked for Toskala. Briefly.

Oh, games against Stanley Cup contenders don’t count.
We may do one but I don’t see how I can win that one and I’d hate to put my undefeated record on the line…

Cheers
Thanks for the welcome.
Lets not get down in the dumps over the Shark attack.
Life could be worse. Our favourite team could have lost by damn near 40 points to the Denver Nuggets.
I got a lot of optimism in the Leafs at the moment. Things finally seem on the right track.
Yeah, I’m not worried about losing to the Sharks. (They’re scary)

Also the fact that Ron Wilson’s coaching helped get them to their current point has a calming influence

You predicted the Leafs would score 0.667 goals?
Damn, your predictions are specific.

Get your molotov cocktails ready then
There are already signs of strain. In February 2007, Liverpool FC was bought out by two American businessmen, Tom Hicks and George Gillett. They loaded the Merseyside club up with £350m in debt, promising heavy investment, a lucrative new stadium and the tapping of new commercial opportunities. The new stadium has since been put on hold because of “global market conditions”. And the leading football financier Keith Harris suggested three weeks ago that the club might find it hard to renegotiate its loans next year with the Royal Bank of Scotland and the US bank Wachovia, both of which have been hobbled by the credit crisis. Some football analysts suspect Hicks and Gillett would sell, given the chance.
GAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Ok, maybe they’ll sell to DIC and they’ll be beneficent owners and build New Anfield and buy great players and not make me worry that they take the greatest club in English history down the tubes with their reckless ways.
