Hurricanes Fire Laviolette and Re-Hire Maurice
Holy crap! What a move. Paul "The Space Cowboy" Maurice always talked about what a great relationship he had with Jim Rutherford but this is still a bit of a shock.

And
I don’t care what happened in Toronto but Maurice wasn’t a bad coach, he just got the raw end of the deal and was shafted by the tag-team that was JFJ and Richard Pettie

I disagree
He didn’t have the best players but his coaching had some serious flaws.

I'm obviously still drunk
Because that makes the kind of sense that’s not.

I’m happy for Maurice – he seemed like a nice guy; a better coach than his record (and performance of his teams, especially the special teams) in Toronto dictated.
I don’t mean to sound snarky, I’m honestly interested in what leads you to that conculsion? The man is like 3 for 10 in qualifying for the post-season, has an atrocious special teams record. What am I missing?

I wish I was drunk. HOLY HELL.
@PPP—his coaching is a serious flaw. I can’t believe JR made this move.
Yeah
I would guess that the Acid Queen is losing her shit right about now because hate isn’t a strong enough word to describe how she felt about him.

I can't believe this
I can’t believe Maurice found another job so fast. Back on that horse, I guess. It’ll be interesting to see if he can rescue his reputation.
January 15th and 19th are totally must win now. We’ve got to do to Maurice what the Sharks did to us.

I guess
I’m the only here who doesn’t hate Maurice

I have a fondness for him...
but mostly because of his quips.
His coaching, not so much.

His 2nd season
Was questionable, but I had a hard time disliking his coaching in his first season.

It’s true, the Leafs looked like a faster team, and his coaching was evident in their play. Things fell apart later on, he really wasn’t that great a coach and he lost the room, but I felt for the guy. He was smart, funny, and he cared for his players.
Yup
He was too nice. He got his players playing well at the start, then they sat back and Maurice didn’t whip his players back into shape in time and when he tried, they had lost respect for him.

I don't hate him
I just don’t get this move. And yeah, I think I like him far more as a person than a coach.

Maurice
sucks

does it make me a bad person that I find this totally hilarious?

And to think mediots actually kept a straight face when they said Jim Rutherford was in the running to be the Prez/GM of the Leafs. Decisions like this one make me even happier he’s telling people he said “no” to MLSE.
The further we get from that lone Hurricane Stanley Cup win the clearer it is just how lucky they got: massive injuries to Buffalo, a one-time hot streak for Ward, Oilers having to play their back-up goalies and then scoring own-goals…
