It has become obvious to me the last few months that it is Richard Peddie, and not the GM of any name, that runs our team.  While his lackey, sorry GM, does the day to day work of a GM, his main role is to nod his head in agreement when Richard Peddie, not a hockey man himself, pronounces the direction the team will take.  Which is why Ferguson was hired and not an experienced GM that could be abrasive to being simply a yes man, especially when they would no better. Succinctly, Peddie did not want another Quinn on his hands.  

Fletcher has been hired with a clear directive from Peddie and he accepted for the pay check and the prestige, not to mention the NTC's which meant he couldn't do anything and thus wouldn't have to.

To make matters worse, while Peddie has no problem with his GM and coach being run through the mud by the press, he has a major problem when its his name they corrupt.  When they tell him to jump, he asks how high, giving people like Steve Simmons, who despises anything Maple Leafs, a power that will continue to debilitate our franchise.

Our rebuild needs to start higher than the GM, Coach and players or it will be all for naught.
