[Open Thread] Leafs at Canadiens: Draft Lottery
Just a quick game day thread. If the Leafs lose tonight and the Coyotes and Blues win out then the Leafs could still finish 25th in the NHL and have a shot at the # 2 pick overall if they win the lottery. While beating the Habs and reminding them of the impending embarrassing first round exit would be a tonne of fun so would the # 2 pick.
Put your SPG guesses along with what you would like to happen to the Hurricanes for blowing their chance to be heroes in Ontario. Way to lose to the Panthers. Enjoy golfing you stupid SOBs.

SPG: one last chance edition
STAJANFECTA, MOFOS!!
also, according to the yahoo playoff matchup page, we're potentially looking at a Montreal-Sens matchup (cue evil laugh) Except...aw shit, that means it's Bruins versus Caps (and an easy 2nd round entry for the Bs. ah, hamburgers)
Me likey
I like the prospect of that combo. I'd love to see the Sens and Habs belittle each other and the loser getting smoked in the second. And I'd love to see Ovechkin, Backstrom and Semin torch the Bruins.
Also thats probably the first and last time someone will ever use the phrase Semin Torch in the history of man.

I still can't believe there are so few comments. last game of the season, guys...wow, this is so depressing
The comment at the end
must have been directed at McCabe.
Formula 1
I had to watch the F1 practicing + qualifying I had taped last night before I turned on the leafs game - can't you tell I'm into it?
3-1 now, Habs fans, you stay classy.
Bell needs to shank some fools!
Please God
Let this be the last game we ever, ever have to see McCabe in a Leafs uniform.. That slash then the crap-ass attempt at a fight with a goddamn rookie. Pathetic.
Dear habs fans: Karma is a motherfuckin bitch
raycroft
...is so cutting himself as we speak (type?)
In fact, you could say he's "in the arrrrms offfff the anngel..."
general question
Something I've been wondering--I'm the only female who is here on any regular basis, aren't I?
Oops
Hit the enter too quick..
Clubhouse sign - "No gurlz allowed"
So we can have one!
Stolen from the Simpsons, sorta
no girls
among the first items I found was this:http://www.amazon.ca/Berenstain-Bears-No-Girls-Allowed/dp/0394873319
but hey, if you're founding a secret mystical Order of "no Loser Domis", then at least that references the Stonecutters episode, which was great
Yeah..
That was the reference I was going for, weakly. My humour was skewed by the rage, rage, rage at the habs and their douchey fans. Did you see that guy in the black shirt that said "Maple Leafs suck"? Douche! Did he really go to the effort to have that silkscreened? Pathetic!

"Maple Leafs suck" shirt
at least that guy just had a tshirt, and didn't spend the big bucks for a leafs JERSEY saying "losers since 67" now THAT guy is a loser (although, that would say he DOES have significant disposable income...)
I didn't watch the Leafs
to avoid the pain, but ended watching the Toronto FC do a Leafs impersonation by playing without defensemen, and consequently falling 1-4 to DC United. So I am really ready to step on the trap door, put the noose over my neck, and ask someone to pull the lever, damn!
not watching the leafs
but listening, and let me tell you, you didn't miss much. But let me say this much:
the end of the season means all of the following (at least until the fall):
--no more stupid "Alarmforce" jingle
--no more distractions from working on my papers
--no more wondering if Bryan McCabe is, in fact, terminally retarded
--no more ads for Molson Canadian about the guy's answering machine and how his friends from Ottawa :can come out but you have to wear skirts"
but, it also means not hanging around you guys as much, which stinks, a lot. So, I propose we all raise a drink of choice to everything that was(n't) this season and say "THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT YEAR", amen
Alarmforce and McCabe
The Alarmforce ad must be written by McCabe (remember, IQ of 67). He IS retarded, no doubt about it.
1-800-267-2001
reminds me of an ad that plays on radio and TV all the time back home in VT for Windshield World: 1800-639-0666. Anything else I need (even friend's phone numbers) I have to look up, but if I need a windshield replaced? That number is burned into my brain, much like AlarmForce's one is
I thought the Molson Canadian ad was Bryan McCabe's actual answering machine message
Foster Team
Hey all, I am suggesting that all of us adopt a Foster Team to support throughout the playoffs, since our own team crapped the bed in such a major way and won't be going to the dance this year.
I think the choice is obvious: Ovie and the Caps.
We can probably all live with rooting for the Caps because they're not a divisional rival, and they've historically been such sad sacks that they've really never done anything of note (except the '75 Caps, who established the Gold Standard for crapping the bed) and they've got Ovie, Backstrom, Semin, Mike Green and former Leaf Bruce Boudreau at the helm.
What say you all?
Alternate foster team
Caps are a great choice, and will be my eastern pick but I'm keen on the Ducks. I spelled it out in a previous blog post, but they're great and really rolling going into the playoffs..
Ducks/Caps final would be sweeeeeeeeet

3rd foster team
I also like Sharks, simply because it would lead to one helluva great "JR time" post over at Barry Melrose rocks
Sharks too!
Yes, I like the sharks too in the west.. Jumbo Joe has an opportunity to shake his suck-o playoff reputation once and for all now!
Still, if Niedermayer grows another "Wolfman Jack" playoff beard I give them the edge.. He has so much extra beard perhaps he can spare some for Teemu!

Wade Belak is glad he plays for Florida--he had his plaid pants already pressed and ready to go.
