Fan-sanity
My foray into the world of hockey and leafs loving started when I was very very young. As a little girl I was only really ever interested in playing with my Barbie doll and teddy bears. So nights when my parents requested the television to watch hockey never bothered me. But one night as I was running through the house I looked over to see my dad enamored in what was on TV, which caught my curiosity. So I climbed up onto my dad's lap and watched with him. On the television was a bunch of men in blue uniforms skating around and one guy in goal with a cat on his helmet (which at that time I called a hat). I can't remember who was doing it but people kept calling the goalie Felix the Cat. I was curious about this little nickname so I asked my dad. "Dad, why do they keep calling that guy a cat? He's a human isn't he?" My dad laughed and that Felix the cat was a cartoon character and because the goalies first name was Felix they called him Felix the cat after that cartoon. I thought it was funny so I stayed and watched the game.
For years after that I didn't really watch the leafs I cared more about Sailor moon and the Spice girls. I was all about the girl power and not the smelly sweaty boys. That was till I started grade six where the teacher was an avid Bruins fan. Since the teacher talked a lot about hockey, fans of other teams decided to defend their own team and talk about them. I along with the majority of the class was a Leafs fan. Since I was new to the school and didn't have to many friends I would watch the leafs and keep up with them so that I could make friends (I made enemies this way too).
I found by this time the Goalie had a vicious dog on his helmet and I didn't recognize any one on any team. When my parents found out that watching games was a new hobby of mine they were pleased. Soon every Saturday night the TV was set to Hockey Night in Canada and I would read the newspaper just to read my favorite players names. Those remained years of good hockey and actual post season play.
I then reached high school where my friends didn't watch hockey so I didn't watch it as much. As well Cujo broke my heart , Domi eventually retired (Breaking my heart as well)and the lockout hit. Because all of that I lost interest once again. I watched games on occasion and knew enough about the team to learn it was Raycrap not Raycroft and that we weren't making the playoffs. I was still a leaf at heart but my heart wasn't in it as much.
It was earlier this year when I started up with the leafs again. I would say it was somewhere around November. Reasons came together again for me to want to watch games again. I had people to talk about the leafs with in my school and I had other fans to tease. Also a new TV show which was complete crack came on air and reminded me how I liked Hockey players. So all of it combined got me back into it. This time around I intend to keep with them through thick and thin cause me not watching them will not help them make the play-offs.

I saw that. Now I’m only behind one defunct blog, one aggregator, two official team blogs, and something called Taco Juice.

The Barilkosphere is expanding rapidly. How much longer until it reaches critical mass and we take over the world?

...Say we already run the hockey world, so the rest of it cant be far behind. The barbarians are massing though. We can take the individual tribes easily, but when they get together….
I really shouldn’t be drinking this early in the day.
