Alexei Kovalev may well have "come to play every night" last season, and backchecked harder, and shown more leadership, etc., but the biggest boost he gave to the conference champ Habs was producing at a Mario-esque 8.07 Pts/60 on the PP: no one else in the league was over 6.00! Meanwhile, he scored 1.88Pts/60 at EV: same as Chad Kilger and Derek Armstrong.
Something to remember when Habs fans are telling you how amazing Kovalev was last year. Glove tap Matt.
