Reading the Tea Leafs: Josef Boumedienne

Following on the success of two other dormant series Chemmy and I have decided that in order to fill the gap in NHL news that we'll take a look at each of the current Leafs, possible Leafs on the Marlies, janitors, marketing interns and prospects. We'll recap their performance last year, what we can expect from them,  and how they can win our hearts (hint: signing the contract was a good first step...unless your name is Bryan McCabe Ian White). We have no idea how long of a series this will end up being or how consistent it will be but with two of us expect it to only be half as half-assed and twice as timely.

Babelfish tells me that this video is of Boumedienne "am tackled" by Granstrom. The other option was a fight where he lost. Go Marlies!

Star-divide

Contract Status (according to NHL Numbers)
$475K, $475K cap hit, UFA July 1, 2009.

Age (as of October 1, 2008)
30 - January 12th, 1978

NHL Seasons
Parts of three for 47 games of call-up experience.

Run of the Mill Biographical Information

Former Leaf he'd have to play like in order to be christened a deity
This guy came completely out of left field and probably won't play a game in the NHL so we can probably ignore this question

Biggest Question Marks
Will he have a good impression on the Marlies' defencemen?

Player Summary
This post
covers most of background on Boumedienne. Japers Rink has the background on Boumedienne's time with Wash...err...Hershey.

Projected 2008-2009 role/team
This guy is definitely a signing to flesh out the numbers on the Marlies. He'll have a big part to play in mentoring the defence not to mention ensuring that Pogge isn't fed to the wolves (Chicago or otherwise). He's shown that he can get the business done at that level and it is likely his ceiling as a player.

Having said that, if he is wearing a Maple Leaf then something has gone horrifically wrong. Or maybe spectacularly right (Van Ryn and White moved for assets). Either way, his presence would be a harbinger of something.

Mclaren

News is Mclaren is leaving San Jose. I’ve wanted this guy for a leaf since he sawed off the head of Richard Zednick with an elbow when he was still a Bruin. Don’t know if we have room for him, but it might be a good idea to make some.

that would be sweet, but we don’t need any more d, and I don’t think SJ would take on any more what with their own plethora of blue line talent…

Thankfully, we’ve got NHL09!

Anybody throws me against the boards I'm gonna piss all over myself.

Here’s Mirtle’s report.

He’s a 31 year old impending UFA with a history of knee problems. I’m not really sure that he fits in on the Leafs’ blueline.

Plus, what would we trade them? Ian White maybe ;)

Boom-Tube

Here’s an interview with Josef from somewhere, after somebody won something, probably, in a language that isn’t english or french.

Yup

That’s Finnish. Anyone understand that?

Hey speaking of languages you don’t understand, have a look at this random thread on a French site about DGB:
http://lhsse2.forumactif.net/messages-importants-f3/nhl-2009-leafs-joke-t1099.htm

Best I can tell somebody thinks it’s funny, somebody else doesn’t, and then they start calling each other gay.

Reading French is really hard when it’s written by retards and uses abbreviations like “c”.

Yeah

The slang and short form doesn’t help but they are French so if you got aggressive about any badmouthing I’m sure that they’d turn coat.

Yes – they liked the Alfredsson bit – so that’s not limited to just Leaf fans….

Leafs, the universe and everything.

HAHAHAHA
That’s actually pretty funny. They like that you realize that the team sucks but apparently while it was funny it didn’t make them piss their pants.

Makes you wonder what kind of threads are going on throughout the internet about what any of us write. Actually, thinking of that is really odd.

Good thing? Bad thing?

Maybe I can work this into a new site slogan somehow…
