Barilkosphere Convention
Till and I were talking before I left Vancouver about how it would be great to get all (or as many as possible) of the Barilkosphere together to watch a game sometime over the Christmas period. We could pick a pub somewhere in T.O. and make it the official Barilkosphere 2008 Headquarters.
I know we are a disparate group, and I am mentioning this now so that we have lots of time to panhandle and roll our pennies in order to bring in the HS/HS team, Loser Domi, LFIV and all the others who live too far away from Toronto. Barring that, we can get a speakerphone and tape some pics to the wall...
Would there be any interest in something like this?

Although I don’t know why we have to hold car washes to bring Spielberg and Lucas out from LA? Can’t they just use one of their teleportation machines?
Also, great idea.
Jared – I remember the street hockey thing!

How about both?
We could combine the street hockey with a night of drunken Leafs watching and make BarilkoCon08 a full days worth of fun.

I like that idea. Plus, it’s not road hockey until the ball has added an extra pound because of the water inside it that has frozen or if you can’t check someone into a snowbank.

I dunno about Christmas-ish, but I was planning to do a T.O. tour during my reading week (first week of March) anyway, even before Jared’s road hockey idea (I just kinda figured that after playing road hockey the involvement of alcohol just went without saying). I would love a BarilkoCon type gathering if I can!

Well, if Mats Sundin ever goes to the scHabs that’s akin to a death in the family, right? Half price airline tickets!

Is that legit? You get half price airline tickets? That’s amazing, if true.
Of course you still get nailed with the carry-on fee, the extra bag fee, the handling fee, the peanuts fee, the drink fee, the drink spillage cleanup fee, and of course, the flying fee.

wow. How long does it take, like a week? Because I’m looking into it and it looks like 15-20 hours of riding, leaving me to amuse myself for 5 hour layovers in Ottawa at 4 in the morning and stuff.

ottawa at 4 in the morning is just as exciting as ottawa at 4 in the afternoon. Make sure to bring a pillow so you don’t hit the ground too hard when you fall asleep from boredom.

Sorry Chemmy…I assumed that you could afford your own ticket with what PPP is paying you. Plus, I thought you were coming to live at my place? A Yanks fan and an RS fan living together…we could make it into a sitcom.
I also forgot DGB and Jared. We may need a helicopter to airlift DGB out of Ottawa, fall of Saigon style.

I live in Toronto, though I haven’t quite cut my chops as a blogger yet I guess. If I was going to recommend a bar for this it’d be Hoops at Yonge and College, they’ve got TVs in the booths, walls, floors, and above the urinals so you never miss anything. Plus a wall projector.

Date
I just took a look at the schedule, and I think that maybe December 20 would be a good date. It is a Saturday, and the Leafs are in Pittsburgh.
Loser Domi: Toronto is beautiful at Christmas-time and you have to see it. The slush on the ground takes on this beautifully festive grey tone. If that doesn’t work, we can make BarilkoCon a quarterly event…or at least arrange a greeting party for your arrival in March.

Wisdom teeth
Mine came in this weekend, are impacted and are scheduled to come out on Friday. (Who the hell gets their wisdom teeth in their 30s?)
I’ll let you know how it goes and if I have any survival/coping tips. I sorta tuned out when the surgeon starting talking about a several hour procedure that involves sawing through my lower teeth…

IV sedation was bizarre, I had that.. Sort of aware what’s going on, but more like it’s on tv in an adjacent room. Had all 4 removed and there was some weird curled in roots that apparently gave them some problems. Wish I had remembered to ask they saved the malformed teeth for a bizarre souvenir!
I got a big bottle of t3s after that but didn’t really have to use any of them, didn’t hurt at all afterwards.. I even ate McD’s that evening! (yes, I am a masochist)

While it may sound reassuring, if I’m eating Taco smell or McD’s after surgery, something has gone horribly wrong.

Impaction is no big deal
I had all 4 of mine impacted when they came in. Of course that was when I was 16, and I agreed with percocet. I live in Toronto and I too like to drink. That might have started because of the wisdom teeth…. not sure.
