Star-divide

The Leafs travel to another one of their house of horrors to take on the Atlantic leading Flyers.

Atlantic Standings

GPWLOTLPT
Philadelphia 41 5 2 9 53
New York Rangers 43 4 4 4 52
New Jersey 40 5 5 3 49
Pittsburgh 42 3 7 4 44
New York Islanders 42 2 7 4 28

(updated 1.10.2009 at 8:22 AM EST)

As is the case with most of the league's top teams (it makes me sick to write that) the Flyers have dealt spectacularly with a long list of injuries. Some day the Leafs will have depth like this and opposition fans will be bemoaning the fact that the Buds never seem to miss a beat.

Philadelphia Flyers Injuries

Probable

PlayerInjury TypeInjury Date
Darroll Powe head 12.30.2008
Arron Asham bruised right knee 12.30.2008

Questionable

PlayerInjury TypeInjury Date
Kimmo Timonen chip fracture in right ankle 12.30.2008
Matt Carle bruised left ankle 12.30.2008
Josh Gratton hand 12.30.2008

Out (IR / Out / Suspended / Physically unvailable)

PlayerInjury TypeInjury Date
Derian Hatcher right knee 9.20.2008
Danny Briere strained groin 12.3.2008
Scottie Upshall sprained right knee 12.22.2008

In other news, Mikhail Grabovski is a good guy:

Mikhail Grabovski, in the aftermath of his shove of NHL linesman Scott Cherrey, spent yesterday trying to make things right. The Leafs forward called Cherrey to apologize for his actions Thursday night in Montreal and then met with Toronto media members to express contrition for his actions.

Fletcher, like me, likes the fire that Grabovski played with Thursday night. Finger will be out of tonight's game with an 'upper body' injury which means that Ian White won't make his anticipated move up to the wing. That's a shame because the Leafs could use right wing White more than defenceman White.

It's a good thing that the Leafs' picked up Brady May because the Flyers are just the kind of team that was teeing off on the Leafs' skill players.

I am going to miss this game which is likely a good thing but the Leafs will never catch the Islanders if they beat teams like the Flyers.

Question

Is there a way to embed those playercards into fan shots too? I seem to recall something about that, but I’m not sure if I just imagined it. My quick search turned up nothing, looking under “SBNation features”

Unfortunately

There is not a way to put them into fanposts. Sorry :(

But if you want to see it then e-mail support@sbnation.com and tell them that you want it.

At least

with the Leafs in Philly they’ll get booed less than they would at home..

Shanny → Devils?

Hm, he was a candidate for Volume 2 of Lovable NonLeafs..

Saw that

I guess Eklund had Shanny confused with Yammy (tm Don Cherry) Jagr.

HAHA!
Bill and Nik are going at it on Sportsnet over Hartsburg in Ottawa.

Nik is calling him a double A coach and Bill is saying that the Sens should dump everyone of their players. This is great.
