Honky Tonk 0 - Canada's Team 0!!!

Whoever can go the longest before nodding off will win the game tonight. It certainly won't be me. Dear God this game has been terrible. Not tight checking but terrible.

The title seems misleading. Honky Tonk zero seems like a no-brainer, but Canada’s Team is also zero? Ouch.

That’s sorta frightening since bi bim bap is a stoneware bowl of fried rice and veg with a sunnyside up egg on top. My brain is struggling to think of what that could be a euphamism for…

Bitter Leaf Fan: a life-long Toronto Maple Leafs fan comments on the team, the media and the exasperation...

by mf37 on Jan 13, 2009 9:27 PM EST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

You’re lucky if you can find bi bim bap with stoneware bowls now. Restaurants usually just give it to you in regular big bowls.

Oh, don’t forget the hot red pepper sauce! It’s what makes the bi bim bap what it is – delicious and awesome.

Common trait for the Leafs this year seem to be the inability to conjure up passion and energy of their own. If there is either no history or no player to focus their emotion on, the Leafs become a tired, boring, and listless team.

Some of that’s (and I can’t belive I’m going to type this) the absence of Stajan, part of it is the injury to Williams, and part of it is the Grabovski suspension. This team has such little skill that each one of these things is too much for them to overcome.

I hope not. Wilson’s shelf life is usually three years (which is coincidentally his current contract), so I don’t think the team has tuned him out at all. I think a large part of the Leafs playing flat was the lack of any emotion for the Preds. The Leafs has got to find energy in every game they play. They just don’t have enough talent to go through the motions and hope to explode offensively with only a couple of minutes.

Nope

I think I want one, but I’m slow with this stuff. It took me ages to add a tagline. I expect I’ll have a pic sometime around the middle of July.

I'm not jaded, I'm just realistic.

ahahahah 3.5 minutes in, Sundin and Wellwood were each on the ice for a goal against, and the Canucks are changing goalies.

Mats and Fats, brilliant. It’s like Abbot and Costello, West Coast style.

Wilson's post-game

Nashville kept the Leafs to the outside and the Leafs didn’t do enough to penetrate

They’ve got a great PK, applied pressure and the Leafs weren’t willing to shoot to make the team scramble.

We’ve got to stick with it and battle through a tough time [a fire alarm has starting going, a very unpleasant “woop-woop” in the background.]

Injuries are limiting the back end.

Overplayed Kubina, Kabs and Schenn. Really missing Mike Van Ryn. He moves the puck really well – and if you can’t move the puck you can’t be a good offensive team.

At this level of hockey, if you’re 2/10ths of second too quick or too slow the play is gone…

Vesa was very good.
