The Leafs have taken 3 points in two games against the 13-17-2 Senators this year. If they lose here you all know to blame PPP for going to the game.

Star-divide

On the injury front things seem fairly normal:

Toronto Maple Leafs Injuries

Questionable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Nik Antropov illness 12.30.2008

Out (IR / Out / Suspended / Physically unvailable)

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Jamal Mayers broken right hand 12.2.2008
Mike Van Ryn concussion 12.18.2008
Luke Schenn knee 12.7.2008

Ottawa Senators Injuries

Doubtful

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Anton Volchenkov upper body 12.30.2008

Out (IR / Out / Suspended / Physically unvailable)

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Senators Playoff Hopes
Death 12.17.2008
Filip Kuba groin

12.21.2008

I was worried that the BoO would be dead in this rebuilding season, but the rebuilding Leafs are exceeding expectations while the Senators are hilariously underperforming.

Let's hope for an exciting game and two points tonight at the ACC, go Leafs go!

Also a good lot of the Sens are ill with a raging case of “failing at life.”

Ain't nothing but puck drops and poke checks, babydoll.

That gave me an idea. Check the Sens injuries again.

I'm torn

I want the Sens to suck, but I’ll be hella pissed if they get a good player in the draft because of it. That hardly seems fair. They shouldn’t be rewarded for failing at life.

I'm not jaded, I'm just realistic.

Even if they magically turn this around they have Tampa’s 1st round pick from the Mezaros deal. If I was a Sens fan I’d want to tank this year out and get two top 10 picks which would go a long way in supplementing the only 3 players they have.

I think they have four – Anton Volchenkov is pretty cool (although hurt, I think?).

Just three forwards, though. :)

They have San Jose’s first rounder actually, so don’t panic yet.

Oh thank God! That makes much more sense. I thought Tampa was just absolutely retarded.

I’ve never seen Toskala raise his blocker arm before.

Also?

I hate the Sens third jersey. It is one ugly piece of crap. Not that I’m surprised they’d come up with something so entirely lame, just that I can’t believe they keep lowering the bar.

I don’t like watchin sports on DVR for some reason.. Unless it was a formula 1 race in china that was on at 3 in the morning, I only watch sports stuff live! Perhaps I’ll have tsn streaming and watch the cbchd..

by LeafFanInVan on Jan 3, 2009 6:01 PM EST up reply actions

the main PVR issue these days with the internets is that watching a pre-recorded game is always somehow spoiled for you, knowing the outcome, the score, and a general know what of the good or bad bits.

Exactly, it’s so hard to keep myself from hearing the results too! Even with the F1 races I have to go thru a total media blackout because I’ll hear the results from the weirdest places..

I don’t mind it. It makes me feel psyshic to know what is going to happen.

If Schenn was playing in the juniors

We could have been witness to seeing Filatov vs Schenn tonight and doing the inevitable comparison. But alas, we’re stuck with Schenn in the NHL taking names and kicking ass upon his return. How unfortunate for Leafs fans, right? ;)

Canadian Forces night at the ACC

Is anyone else somewhat distressed when they see some really overweight CF soldiers? What the hell is going on there?

by LeafFanInVan on Jan 3, 2009 6:33 PM EST reply actions

happens in every military, you hit a certain rank or get a certain job and suddenly you arn’t required to be physically fit any more.
And like cops and firefighters, when they let themselves go…well they REALLY let themselves go.

Yeah I guess they eat the same amount (ie lots) but change the amount of physical exercise to none.. Add in the change of the metabolism from middle age and whoosh.

by LeafFanInVan on Jan 3, 2009 6:57 PM EST up reply actions

dont i know that now, only 25 and my metabolism isnt half what it used to be. Stopped working out for 2 months for an injury and ate the same and BAM 20lbs

Also, I hate my cordless drill. Every time I go to use it, the god damn battery is dead. The battery life of the crap-ass nicds are measured in minutes, not even tens of minutes. Never buying a cordless again!

Saw that.

“Frustration, thy name is Crosby.”

But jumping someone no matter how frustrated you are doesn’t help your team. The Penguins need him on the ice, not sitting in the penalty box for 19 minutes.

This is the best quote:
