Good evening...

…I trust everyone had a good holiday?

Are we ready for some mediocre hockey??

I'm always ready

for some mediocre hockey.

My holiday was delightful, thanks for asking.

So glad your holiday was enjoyable!

How was your holiday? Do anything fun?

Win is way better than fail

My holiday? Family stuff, parental tension, watching bad Leaf games, hangin’ with the kid, and enjoying delightful baked goods and those who make them. Couldn’t have been better. You?

by clark4calder on Jan 3, 2009 7:09 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Indeed

I also partook of the family stuff, parental tension, and watching bad Leaf games. I made delightful baked goods (does that mean you enjoyed me?) I also had a lovely dinner made from scratch for me, and I enjoyed both the person who made it, and the meal itself. Win-win.

I'm not jaded, I'm just realistic.

by Mabel on Jan 3, 2009 7:43 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

New Year’s was great, thanks for asking.

I made arancini stuffed with smoked mozarella (deep fried risotto) as an amuse with a French 75.

We had a salad of shaved fennel and arugula with smoked salmon as the first course with the rest of our champagne.

For the main I whipped up Gordon Ramsay’s beef wellington (along with potatoes, thyme and onions slow roasted in goose fat) with a ’98 Chateau Haut Smith Laffite.

And to cap it all off, Mrs. MF37 made a really decadent pear and chocolate layer cake from the La Maison du Chocolat cookbook.

I really miss cooking like that…

I hope you had a great time at that party you were heading to.

You had me at arancini

I love arancini, and I have to find an occasion to bring out the French 75.

The whole meal sounds heavenly. I’m drooling just reading about it.

I did have a great time at the party I went too. It was a little less, gastronomically impressive than yours was, but the company was good, execpt for a little awkwardness around midnight, when some drunk people came by and wolfed down some booze and made us all feel uncomfortable until they went off to a bar, and we could pull the good booze back out. I got home when the subway shut down, so if that’s any indication, I had a swell time.

I never did until this year, he has just been a super douche, with the ball punching and the cross checking Hagman like 6 times for no reason and now this?
Not to mention that he is the ‘kid’ so he gets away with everything without so much as a talking to. Any player who wasnt Crosby would get two games for that attack

Because Taking The Leafs Seriously Is Not An Option

by JaredFromLondon on Jan 3, 2009 8:03 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t really think he would need any games for that.. Like bkblades is saying, crosby needs someone riding shotgun for him.. That and perhaps the instigator rule repealed.

by LeafFanInVan on Jan 3, 2009 8:03 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I do understand where Crosby is coming from as well, but his chirping and constant whining towards the ref is gaining him no benefit of the doubt. Gretzky was very much the same way early in his career, until he got Semenko to bodyguard him. Consequently, Gretzky stopped whining because he was protected and had less of an opportunity to become a douche.

by bkblades on Jan 3, 2009 8:04 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

in the era of no instigator, all that is gonna get is crosby destroyed by some 4th liner with nothing to loose.

Nice to see Kaberle standing right there for Spezza’s mini-spear and immediately whining to the ref.

He’s got a ton of talent, but man sometimes he really looks like the last hold-over of the McCabe/Sundin era.
