FTB - In Shock Edition
So let me get this straight: The former Leaf goaltender allows seven goals including a couple of ridiculously weak ones and the former Leaf forward gets outscored by the defenceman that the team signed from his current team?
I can't wait to find out how this Twilight Zone episode ends...
- On the eve of Dougie Night Neate Sager looks at what the man represented to Leaf fans. Oh for another Dougie...
- Andrew Bucholtz interviews the normally media shy Alyn McCauley about his history of concussions and his participation in the recent summit.
- Talk of scrappiness presages a blistering assault on Vancouver's version of Boc McClown.
- Remind me again how the Leafs' problems would all be solved by having a single owner? Maybe the SEC investigations are getting to him.
- Get ready to laugh your ass off.
- Steve was right, having Finger and Van Ryn makes a huge difference on the backend especially in terms of puck movement.
- A good sportswriter passed away. The must be near extinct by now.
- Here's a good up and coming blog's look at the good times with Darcy. I better squash that guy before he gets too big.
- MF37 doesn't revel in other people's fortunes...usually.
- The newly revamped Toronto Sports Media looks at Wilbur on the radio and Ron Wilson's soft touch with the rookies.
Toss any others in the comments.

That game was amazing. I thought for sure someone would hit 10 goals, because no one could stop anything – although Raycroft was worse. I have no earthly idea why they didn’t keep Theodore after they rehabbed him and got him playing like a real goaltender again. The difference was only about a million dollars over a two-year contract.
Too bad for them, I guess. :)

I loved Antropov’s goal where he stepped around Raycroft.

Beauty
I loved the patience and Raycroft stretching as far as he could but knowing that he was still too short.

That was
hilarious. My favourite part was Joe Bowen and Greg Millen solemnly observing that Raycroft’s 37 wins in one season as a Leaf has to mean that he’s a talented goaltender (failing to observe that he played 72 games that year – and that games were being decided by shootouts in that year).
Cue the Keystone cops music and Raycrap’s extra-special brand of failtacular prowess. If the Leafs had any kind of luck (not to mention any kind of scoring talent) they would have potted a dozen goals on that piece of crap last night.
And by the way, whatever happened to Darcy Tucker?

Last night...
was not so much a game we won, as a game the Avs lost, if that makes any sense. The Leafs did not play incredibly well (save for Schenn, Kulemin, Moore and Blake) and our goaltending was atrocious. I wonder how many of those would have gotten by Pogge?

It’s a moot point. Most important thing was not losing to Raycroft. That would have been like the anti reformation.

absolutely...
i was ecstatic we didn’t lose to Raycroft, but it wasn’t a pretty game.
It’s not like they’re going to put up 7 goals a game every night they play, but you can bet, more often than not we’re going to let in 4…

last night was odd
first period seemed to just drag on, second period the leafs were actually almost playing like they cared. But third period was just kinda sloppy all around
Making stuff up since real Leafs news is far too depressing
That would have been like the anti reformation.
A good thing?

More on Pratt
Thanks for the link, guys! Greatly appreciated. By the way, I find it hilarious that CoxBloc wrote about the ridiculousness that is Dave Pratt. The story of his plagiarism is a good one: for one, he plagiarized Rick Reilly a vast number of times in one piece, for another, his excuse was that “”http://sportingmadness.blogspot.com/2008/06/dave-pratt-loses-column-over-plagarism.html" >The sheer amount of volume we produce forces you to constantly be looking for different people’s ideas" and that he “wanted to get out of the office before noon”. The Toronto media has its problems, but most of the people in it aren’t down to Pratt’s level.
