Puck Daddy: Swedish Dives and Bites
I can't believe that I forgot to mention that Thomas Hickey got freaking bitten by a Swede last night! No one else mentioned it other than Jennifer Hedger on last night's SportsDesk.
Also, see Della Rovere alter his course to hit Markstrom. Although, on further review, that second collision with Espositio was a dive.

Bite
yeah I forgot about the bite, too. That was dirty. I expected the diving from players who hero-worship Forsberg, but biting???

I thought initially that he had been cut by a skate. Then they showed the replay that made the bite clear and Maguire was silent!

what I remember
is that McGuire was pretty much in shock… he was like… look at Hickey in the crease… silence… Did he get bitten?!?

I stayed up until the wee small hours so I could finish World War Z. I shouldn’t have enjoyed that book as much as I did.

Is that good? I want to read that series but I need someone to have read it.

The format is what makes it work. It owes a huge debt to Studs Terkel (and if you haven’t you really need to read Working).
It’s essentially Q&A style unedited interviews with various survivors of the zombie plague – everyone from trailer park inhabitants to MOSSAD agents.
There’s some really nice wrinkles along the way and some awfully creepy stuff – the interview with the soldier who was assigned to purge the Parisian sewers of zombies is pretty intense as is the use of refugee camps as bait to attract the zombie hordes so more important folks could be evacuated.
I very rarely read any fiction (this is the first one in 3+ years) but I dig zombies and the book was well done.

Oh man
Yeah, so awesome.
I pretty much read it under the exact same circumstances – i don’t do fiction often but I am a huge Romero zombie lover.
Like mf37 said as did The Onion, its “far more affecting than anything involving zombies really has any right to be”, which is fair because its so well written.
The section about the survivors “goin up north” to Canada is so damned depressing – basically we up here are fucked and can expect a fair bit of gypsy living and cannibalism.
Also for better or worse, she’s coming to a theatre near you :
Also thanks for the love blurr, I like being green!

also...
those were dives.
the flop on the esposito hit was more embarrassing than the one on DR, but DR definitely readied himself for a hit and followed through…still Markstrom sold that one.

Her being married to that sportsnet clown ruined it for me.. Just like Rose McGowan + Marilyn Manson.
Anyone remember Hedger from that awful Canadian Reality show Lofters?

You’d think this clip would be bigger amongst sports bloggers.

All we need now is Mike Toth tossing salads from Showcase’s unaired answer to Oz, Millhaven.
If only.
