Kulemin to the Marlies
I like this move. It weakens the Leafs and gives Kulemin a lot of playing time that will hopefully see him build a bit more confidence in his offensive abilities. He has been settling for the Jason Blake Special far too often lately. Maybe he and Tlusty can build some chemistry.

Hopefully he doesn’t bolt for Russia.

Is he making room for someone?
Stajan’s return?
And didn’t Tlusty get called up?

Tlusty got sent down after his one game.
Stajan is back Thursday against the Habs.

Imagine, the Leafs offense falling apart because Stajan is hurt.
Oh, what a world.

can't wait to boo him...
when he’s traded. :)

oic
Kulemin really does need the playing time, so I’m glad.
Stajan’s offense this year… shock of the year.

i’m still waiting for the bottom to fall out.
and if it doesn’t, i’m gonna be pissed. we’ve had this guy buried on the 3rd and 4th lines for how long now…?

well
that was with Maurice. Having a coach that can teach Stajan is probably what finally brought out this potential.

and Quinn...
he played under Quinn

oh yeah
I kinda forget about Quinn. I dunno why. His first year he did well, didn’t he? Playing with Nolan?
by Karina on Jan 7, 2009 12:26 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah
Matty is definitely a RW type guy : hard working, intelligent player who does the little things.
And like blurr was saying, I really do think he’s been a bit buried in the depth chart (not ironic as people (jerks) have labeled him a depth guy) over the years.
Everyone knew he could play the two-way game and as such he ended up being put in the 3rd line/PK role forever, and while that got him on the WJ team and has been a gold star for him in the bigs I feel like he’s finally getting the key minutes to develop and showcase what made him a big deal with the Bulls.
Pure playmaker : good head, good first pass off the end boards and now half-decent on the draws.
Too bad he hates his own shot so much. :(
He is the perfect Second line center i think.
he can do it all, put up good points and he is relativly cheap.
not to say he has done a poor job on the first line.

FAN590 Reporting
Leafs have traded for Brad May. This comes from Kypreos, so take it for what it is worth.
oh god
what is with Burke’s obsession with Brad May?!?
by Karina on Jan 7, 2009 12:34 PM EST up reply actions
interesting
I really hope we don’t see too many of these trades. Burke’s far too fond of some players who don’t make any contribution. And I don’t want this team to be Canucks West.
by Karina on Jan 7, 2009 12:37 PM EST up reply actions
that...
is retarded.
and yet also makes hollweg more of an agitator and less of a fighter. deveaux becomes redundant…

as long as Burke doesn’t bring Bertuzzi here….

Locker room drama?
May was a guy who made some statement about there being a bounty on Steve Moore before the “incident”..
Wonder what Dom’ll feel like over this one.
forgot about that...
chances are, Burke would trade Moore if it did become an issue…

Me thinks maybe the writing is on the wall for Moore. His trade value can’t get any higher, and since we got him for nothing, anything we get back is profit.
by general borschevsky on Jan 7, 2009 1:15 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah
That’s two people that Moore hates on the team. He is a good professional for not saying anything but there is no way he can’t be irate at this move.
Hell, I am not a Moore and I fucking hate this move.

I can’t imagine Moore is a big fan but he’s been pretty professional about it and I can see that he might not have as strong of feelings towards Burke but May?

I got a better one
Leafs traded a sixth to LA for the last handful of games of Don Luce’s career. LA used that pick to draft a guy named Kevin Stevens….
Leaf, the universe and everything.

So......
Deveaux, Hollweg, Newbury, May….
How many marginally talented pot-stirrers do we need floating around this roster?
If Mayers doesn’t do any pot-stirring, what does he do?
He just skates around a lot.

that's like stirring...

Poor Kulemin
Gets pushed to the background even in a thread about his demotion..
This thread has derailed, rolled across 4 lanes of traffic and smashed into a tim horton’s drivethru. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!
buyers...?
why would we be buyers at the deadline?
