Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

I like this move. It weakens the Leafs and gives Kulemin a lot of playing time that will hopefully see him build a bit more confidence in his offensive abilities. He has been settling for the Jason Blake Special far too often lately. Maybe he and Tlusty can build some chemistry.

Stajan’s return?
And didn’t Tlusty get called up?

Tlusty got sent down after his one game.

Stajan is back Thursday against the Habs.

Imagine, the Leafs offense falling apart because Stajan is hurt.

oic

Kulemin really does need the playing time, so I’m glad.
Stajan’s offense this year… shock of the year.

by Karina on Jan 7, 2009 12:12 PM EST up reply actions

i’m still waiting for the bottom to fall out.

and if it doesn’t, i’m gonna be pissed. we’ve had this guy buried on the 3rd and 4th lines for how long now…?

well

that was with Maurice. Having a coach that can teach Stajan is probably what finally brought out this potential.

by Karina on Jan 7, 2009 12:26 PM EST up reply actions

14 goals and 27 points in 69 games

not too shabby, about what Super-Kule was on pace for, maybe a little more.

More than Eric Staal scored, anyway.

by Ando Rich on Jan 7, 2009 5:58 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

Matty is definitely a RW type guy : hard working, intelligent player who does the little things.

And like blurr was saying, I really do think he’s been a bit buried in the depth chart (not ironic as people (jerks) have labeled him a depth guy) over the years.

Everyone knew he could play the two-way game and as such he ended up being put in the 3rd line/PK role forever, and while that got him on the WJ team and has been a gold star for him in the bigs I feel like he’s finally getting the key minutes to develop and showcase what made him a big deal with the Bulls.

Pure playmaker : good head, good first pass off the end boards and now half-decent on the draws.

Too bad he hates his own shot so much. :(

by Ando Rich on Jan 7, 2009 6:10 PM EST up reply actions

He is the perfect Second line center i think.
he can do it all, put up good points and he is relativly cheap.
not to say he has done a poor job on the first line.

I really hope we don’t see too many of these trades. Burke’s far too fond of some players who don’t make any contribution. And I don’t want this team to be Canucks West.

That’s two people that Moore hates on the team. He is a good professional for not saying anything but there is no way he can’t be irate at this move.
