I'm getting tired of this. I don't want to crap on Burke's first real move but...
Brad May is 37. Why is another draft pick being unloaded on a marginal player who may be a strong leader in the dressing room, but adds nothing to the on-ice product.
May isn't a heavyweight, and now there are 5 players looking for ice time on the 4th line in Mayers, Mitchell, Hollweg, and Deveaux, along with May. Does May really have something any of those guys don't? Is he worth giving another draft pick away?
I don't think Burke is going to kill this franchise, because we know his next deal is, most likely, going to bring Brendan Morrison in to town, but sacrificing more draft picks for marginal, older players is what got this team in trouble in the first place. Why not just call up Darryl Boyce, Ben Ondrus, or hell, even a guy like Phil Oreskovic if you're looking to inject toughness.
