Luke Schenn in YoungStars/Guns/Somethings Game
Good for Luke. I hope that in a game full of dangles and trick plays that he either whips out some awesome moves or he drills someone.

you don't know
how often I end up seeing that as “YoungSTuds”
which I think would make it better, at least for me
Making stuff up since real Leafs news is far too depressing
It’s still nowhere near as tainted as the grown-up game, with Mike “Mad Money” Modano and Keith “Fatty fatty ding-dong” Tkachuk in there..
Seriously, what the hell? Freakin’ joke.
Yeah that whole “pick one from each team” thing is just silly.
Ah well I never watch the damn thing anyway. I just like bitchin’ about stuff.
Apart from the lack of passion or defense, I think the reason I turned it off most often was I felt really bad for the goaltenders. They must frigging hate those games.
What usually does in your viewing experience?
It used to be the total lack of passion or hits. Now I just turn it and go ’What the hell am I doing."
I think I’m more a Leaf fan then a hockey fan. If it’s not the Leafs or Canada, it has to be a pretty good game for me to get into it, whereas I’ll watch any baseball game.
Needless to say, out here on the coast I pretty much just watch on Saturdays…
Same, I’m cutting the cable so I’ll be restricted to CBCHD via antenna – the main benefit is no more Pierre!
I try to watch Canucks games and feel like a bad canadian when I just get bored and switch it off..
Please, Luke, save this travesty that the Young Stars has become.

Young Studs, I think.
Ain't nothing but puck drops and poke checks, babydoll.

Or is could also be called “The Game Where Wrap’s Boyfriend Shows Them What’s What” but that was a hair too wordy.

Luke will be the best ever if he just drops a shoulder to someone’s face on the blue line.

The trouble with the All-Star game right now is that the Winter Classic has stolen it’s thunder.
It’s supposed to be the one game each season that showcases the sport to the casual fan. Superstars, goals, mad skillz and a special atmosphere. Good for sponsors and TV.
All of which is superceded by the Winter Classic, which is a better quality game overall and doesn’t have Habs fans with nothing better to do stuffing ballots to get unworthty players in.
While I see people getting bored with the novelty of it – and there’s just as many issues with the selection process since TV wants big-market Yanqui teams involved – I see no way the All-Star game can become a better spectacle purely because the players don’t care about the outcome of it.
Players want to win the Winter Classic. They want a laugh at the All-Star game.
if they did something like the MLB all star game where the winning side gets home advantage in the finals i think the guys would play a lot harder

God please no,
MLB does that but yet the teams don’t take it completely seriously. The managers still try to get every player into the game, If they really wanted to win as much as possible they would be playing the best all-stars all the time period.

double post
And it still wouldn’t be taken that seriously since the team owners and coaches wouldn’t want their players getting hurt in an exhibition game. It still wouldn’t be a game where you would see hits or rough play.

The Young Stars game is such a travesty, with its three-on-none’s and no hitting and wannabe Globetrotters offense, that I’m legitimately worried that playing in it will hurt Schenn’s development as a defensive player. Like a baseball player who competes in the HR Derby and then loses his swing for two months.
I’m being paranoid, right?

I think the HR derby curse is a bit of a myth, Players tend to fall off in the 2nd half anyways just from being tired. AROD did it and he doesn’t compete in that thing. The one big example people point to is Bobby Abreau and frankly I chalk that up to age and declining skill set.

Yes
I mean, I hope so.
If Schenn comes back and keeps trying to go end to end then we’ll know he shouldn’t have played in it.

But wouldn’t that mean Schenn is developing that untapped offensive skill? No? Anyone? Come on, am I the only one not satisfied with these Adam Foote comparisons?
Schenn has already shown the ability to skate the puck up to the oppositions blue line and make a dandy pass to a forward without trouble. He is like a freight train where Kabby is a F1 car. He just needs some more confidence and a partner that can cover for him if things go awry

“Rollin like a freight train.. Higher than an aeroplane..”
That’s what I thought of after that analogy.. Wicked.

I like to think
that this could help Schenn, if only to help him defend against danglers. Unless of course he unlearns playing the man and not the puck, in which case I’ll start my own Montreal riot.
