MARLIES ANNOUNCE 2009-10 OPENING DAY ROSTER

The Marlies kick off their 2009-2010 season at home on Sunday. I might have a pair of tickets available and all you'll have to do is write a fanpost with a game recap. Let me know if you are interested!

As per the press release the Marlies 2009-10 roster consists of:

Goaltenders:

Defenceman:
Brendan Mikkelson
Phil Oreskovic
Josh Engel

Juraj Mikus

Forwards:
Darryl Boyce

Ryan Hamilton
Andre Deveaux
Robert Slaney
Richard Greenop
Greg Scott
Christian Hanson
Tyler Bozak
Alex Foster
Ben Ondrus
Alex Berry
Dale Mitchell

In addition, the club announced that Stefano Giliati, Andrew Engelage, Eric Werner and Joe Ryan have all been reassigned to the Reading Royals for the ECHL and Mikhail Stefanovich has been assigned to the Quebec Remparts (QMJHL).

Beau Erickson and Tom Galvin have both been released from their try-out contracts.

I think we clearly learned that Stefanovich isn’t mature enough to play at the pro level yet.

Hopefully this move gives him the wake-up call that he is still quite a way’s down the Maple Leaf depth chart, and he goes and lights up the Q again.

I was right! This almost never happens. I need to lie down for a bit.

Mikhail Stefanovich continues to play poorly. He seemed to get a bit more into it in the third, wristed a shot off the post and had another decent-ish chance. He looks frustrated – he banged his stick off the boards at the end of one shift. I could see him going back to junior as an overager.
