Around SBN: Celtics, Heat Score On Purpose In Super Sunday Wins

Ray of Hope: Alexei Ponikarovsky

I'm going to try and find positive things to write about on the Maple Leafs this week. Here's number one.

This year the Toronto Maple Leafs have been outscored 14 - 32 in their first seven games. Despite that Alexei Ponikarovsky is a +5. Here's your gold star for the first 8.5% of the season Alex, keep it up.

I love Poni.

He’s even awesome in the video game world, he’s the second leading scorer on my be a GM team which also had E. Staal, Getzlaf, Savard, and Kessel. Not a top line forward my ass.

I'm not even supposed to be here today..!

Looks like they’re not approving our comments. Guess jokes about being terrible are only funny when they’re not about the Canucks.

I like

the one below yours:

It never fails to amaze me how a city and fans of such a loser franchise as the Vancouver Canucks think they have the right to make fun of any other team including the Leafs. Maybe actually win ONE Stanley Cup yourselves or have an actual player in the Hall of Fame or build a tradition of winning instead of one of bad uniforms and failure (15 straight losing seasons!) If you ever manage to do any of that than maybe you won’t look so ridiculous commenting on the struggles of other teams.

I remember how some Canucks fans were pointing out how stupid it was for us to honour Wendel Clark when he never won anything.

So, uh, any complaints when Trevor Linden was honoured a month later? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I have had

so many conversations with my husband about how hypocritical Canucks fans are when the criticize Clark.

Clark and Linden had very similar career stats.

So, tie goes to the one who would win in a fight.

Wendel by a mile.

how much

cap space do we have? I’m extremely interested in Nylander’s AHL conditioning stint and the speculation that he will be traded around 2 weeks from now.

I’m not sure Nylander fits well with the current Leafs right now. He would have paired well with Sundin, but the lack of power forwards on the Leafs doesn’t help maximize Nylander’s skills in my mind.

I would say I’m more worried about the length of his contract. He would be a good stop gap this year, but I don’t really want him around next.

Yeah, I would hope Burke gets other major assets to take on that contract. Washington would love to see his cap hit gone and hey, perfect time to wring a good draft pick or player for cap relief, no?

The Leafs are tight against the cap if you considering Kessel’s salary will be added in a few weeks (5.4 mill pro-rated). No room to add without subtraction.
