A Slap In The Mouth Or A Slug From A .45
You know, it's at times like this I like to head out into the chill fall air and enjoy the good things in life. Maybe go out walking in the countryside and savour the rich tapestry of nature - the singing birds, the golden sun and auburn hues of the trees.
Presently, I may come across a young family feeding the ducks at the lake. At which point of course, I'd push little Johnny Joey into the water, set fire to the mother's nicely styled hair, rake the ducks with semi-automatic gunfire and finally battle the father to the death in a specially constructed MLSE thunderdome. Because that's what autumn is all about. That and I support the Leafs and I'm in a very, very, very bad mood. See you in court.
- Last night's action is reviewed by Leafs247, Far Away Leaf, in pictorial format by Kavel Pubina and the gameday thread over at Maple Leaf Hot Stove. Toronto Sports Media meanwhile has more on shots thrown at Wilson.
- Also getting that sinking feeling were the Marlies, losing in a shoot out to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Reviews here and in more depth here.
- Norte has a view on Shanahan and I won't lie to you good people, it ain't pretty.
- bkblades has a word on the good side of streaking, as well as the bad side (sadly featuring no actual streaking by the man himself).
- And while it's nothing we haven't heard before, the Torontoist ain't too happy about things in general either.
- So it's been a bad weekend all round, I think we can agree on that. Not as bad as the one David Booth is having though - starting off with his attempt to mix hockey and baseball and finishing him off with him getting the mother off all bell ringings off of Mike Richards.
- In other disciplenry news, it'll be 3 on the sidelines for Tuomo Ruutu after giving Darcy Tucker a night in the ER. Get well soon, Darcy.
- Rounding off today, friend of the show OdinMercer over at Five For Howling has a new podcast and you should probably go and check it out. C'mon, it's Sunday - you aren't busy.
- LATEBREAKING - Another game review from last night, straight outta SoCal.
- FURTHERBREAKING - Fear no more, heartbroken types - It's the new Bloge Salming short! And things are going from bad to worse for the Vesa
- EVENLATERBREAKING - Kohma's thoughts on the Leafs' "slump" or as some of us call it "their lack of offense, defense, goaltending, special teams and management". We still have sweet jerseys though.

Stupid ducks.
They had it coming. And Mommy is lucky to have gotten off so lightly. Murderous rage FTW!!!
Nicely done, Mattblack.

ahaha
it’s ok Mattblack, I understand the rage. Except mine has turned into a depression, which means I won’t be doing anything except wondering how those Simple Plan fellows knew my life so well…

Considering they're the jerks who did a rendition of the Hockey Theme...
they deserve it.

Grabovski...
just a feeling I guess, but I think Burke has put him on the block.

He has not been even remotely good. None of our offense has though so I’d hesistate to move something I view as a young asset signed cheap.

This team is completely LEADERLESS.
Which is another reason, among many, why Kubina should not have been replaced by that turd Beauchemin. This team is looking more and more like it will finish dead last When we do, Burke must be fired. FACT.

I would have shown some patience
if Burke had. If we draft in the top 3 for some other team it will be the biggest blow to this franchise since Big Frank was traded.

Oh yeah, we’re totally screwed, especially since they instituted that rule where the final 74 games of the season don’t matter.

Things happen
teams sometimes just suck, regardless of how they look on paper. The Flyers of 06-07 looked 10 times better than the Leafs do on paper, but didn’t fare much better in the regular season. If you told me a team With Gagne, Forsberg, Knuble and more were going to stink, I’d never have believed you.
At this point, if the season is a wash, then I guess it’s a wash. I’d rather not see Burke do anything rash (ie – trade guys with value a la Poni, Hagman etc) just for another quick fix. I don’t know enough about running a hockey team to say what the issues are. I don’t believe arbitrarily slapping a ‘C’ on someone’s jersey is going to fix anything.
We’ve yet to see this team play as a cohesive unit. Last night was close. Lot’s of buzzing in the offensive zone, passes were crisp and tape to tape. Hitting was coming in bunches. For once, the Leafs did everything right. You can’t win when the refs have money on your opponent. Just ask the Phoenix Suns…
Last night, the Leafs looked fantastic. Unfortunately the win isn’t given to the team most deserving.

Laugh now but
The Leafs will finish with more points this year than they did last year.

despite the losing
I feel 10X after seeing last nights game. Joey Mac played great, Exelby looked like a solid defenseman, I’m happy we have Primeau to kill penalties, although he took a dumb one last night, at least we have a 4th line that Wilson trusts now. Colton Orr may be able to replace Tie Domi in my heart. Now if only we could put the puck in the net, I think we could get on a roll.

this offense is endlessly frustrating, Kuli, Grabbo, hagman and poni can all put the puck in the net
