Still 10 times better then Hughson though.

Even Bowen admitted when he made a mistake such as the non slash call. He said it was slashing and then on the replay saw it and went yeah thats a bad call. I don’t see Hughson doing the same, especially if it was against his Canucks.

Well,

Hughson vs. the Canucks is totally different than Hughson vs. every other team!

I love Hughson’s play-by-play though. His calls are smooth. I still love Bowensy but he is getting terribly old and starting to get behind the play. Similar to Bob Cole.

And as for Hughson vs every other team, he is completely bias against the Leafs all season thus far basically fawning over the other team.

Granted the Leafs haven’t had anything to really get excited about this year, but it did get sickening, especially for a national broadcast.

Im all for homerism in announcers, but usually if it is just for that specific team. For instance when Bowen does it, Im fine with it because he is the Leafs guy, In baseball when Hawk talks about good guys and bad guys for Chicago I am fine with it because he is their announcer. It annoys me when it is blatently down on the national stage. Bob Cole and Harry Neale were bad for that too while there were here and it annoyed me just as much then (Only then it was bias for the Leafs).

I heard hughson call a Wild Flames game once and he was actually quite good, but you throw in the Leafs and he breaks them apart with snide coments, you put in the canucks and he tongue baths them at every chance.
Hughson has a great voice and an excellent delivery, but his bias is irritating.
I do agree that Bowen, Neale and Cole were all Leaf homers, but they did a much better job of hiding it than Hughson does,
