He’s got a lot of learning curve ahead of him. Some time in the Marlies to learn to do stuff, mixed with time in the NHL to get used to the speed… they’re all projects, but hopefully they’ll improve in bunches over time.

I’m confident he’ll get his game back. I think he did need to be sent down. We can see he has the raw tools but he can’t put it together at an NHL-calibre level yet. Working on his game and getting confidence by playing better with the Marlies should help.

8 GP, 6G, 4A, 10P. This is totally consistent with the stats we saw for last season in the AHL, so I feel like we can be confident that he’s for real. His camp was really ho-hum, but I’m hoping for better things.

This makes sense.

The Leafs (and RW) are big on the whole top 6/bottom 6 thing. Someone from that top 6 was going to have to go down to make room for Tlusty. Stalberg has been ok, but he hasn’t progressed very much since game 1. He can obviously play at this level, just needs some polish.

As for Tlusty, the situation reminds me of the Adam Lind thing with the Jays from last year. He was called up, did OK, but then got stuck back in the minors for a while. He did fairly well, but once he got back to the show, he made sure not to give the team any excuse to send him back down. I’m hoping for the same result in Tlusty’s case.

Yeah, Tlusty hasn’t been with the big club since going nuclear last season. Let’s hope he never plays for the Marlies again, y’know?
