Game Preview: Leafs @ Caps
The Leafs head into the Phone Booth today to face the recently bulked up *gulp* Alexander Ovechkin and the Caps. It turns out Bruce Boudreau must read our blog:
Washington Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau told a Toronto radio station yesterday that he expected his club would face Leafs backup goalie Jonas Gustavsson.
Unfortunately for us we'll be seeing Toskala in net tonight. His feel good quote that makes you reallly think he works for his starts is here:
"No one's said anything to me, so that pretty much means I'll be starting," Toskala said.
Urp. Remember your SPG picks, I think Wrap's doing the game threads, puck drops in 4ish hours. Go Leafs go!

As much as I want the Leafs to win… Part of me wants to see Toskala let in a ton of really bad goals in the first period so that we can see Gustavsson.
Patience
I’m assuming the rest of you wants Toskala to get a shut-out so that the Monster knows he doesn’t have a free pass to the starter’s role when he gets his first start on TUESDAY.

She's not very good at all...
…and it has nothing to do with the fact that she’s a woman. She’s just really really boring, with absolutely no sense of humour.
God…I know. I was watching the end of the Blues-Wings game today after the Vancouver one was over and it’s terrible. There’s just no passion or emotion…or anything in her voice. She just drones on.
I’d rather…I’d rather…listen to Gary Bettman talk about hockey.
They are still letting Ovechkin drive those little carts around in the building? After he almost took his head off once? You would think they would hide the keys after that…
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
Well, he more or less owns that team. I would say he can do whatever the hell he wants. :)

Well yeah no one is gonna stop him once he gets on one, but thats why I said they would hide the keys :P

Remember, this is a guy who said he would eliminate speed limits in the District. I prefer my 123M investment with his feet in skates—then he can go as fast as he likes!
from the house that Red Jesus built
no, it was one of those almost-golf-carts and they drive around in warehouses.

GO CANUCKS GO!
One of these….. look how close he was there…

holy shitballs
any other time, I’d laugh, but I’m working on reading this book on Pelle Lindbergh….so…yeah….
still pretty funny, though
Un ananas (truculent) qui parle? Impossible!
See what I mean though? You think the Capitals Brass would hide the keys to all of those things so he won’t do something like that again. Can you imagine if he actually hurt himself off ice…. I mean the only thing worse would be getting hurt in the Soccer ball warmup…. oh wait…

I love Ovechkin but I’d be totally ok with him hurting himself tonight before the game.

GO CANUCKS GO!
Well I just played through this game on NHL10.
And if my game is anything close to real outcome (and I assume it is) we will be down 2-1 with a minute left in the third from 2 goals from Ovechkin. Beauchemin will then proceed to score a goal with 20 seconds left to tie the game.
In overtime Poni will take a terrible slashing penalty, on the PK Primeau will make a terrible giveaway in the neutral zone giving Semin a break away to score the game winning goal and win 3-2 in overtime.
You heard it here first.
If it was anything like my game, The Monster would have started and we would win 8-1

Good luck to you guys tonight. Hoping for a good game (Obviously I hope my Caps come out on top) but I’m looking forward to seeing how Kessel and your other additions have improved the Leafs.
I'm so sick and tired of the refs explaining the calls like this is the NFL.
Thanks but Kessel is out until November, Our beefed up D is present and accounted for though.

That’s terribly upsetting. I think the Leafs are a sleeper to make the playoffs, personally, so this isn’t the same “expecting victory” that the Caps have been able to get (all of one year).
Hoping Monster sneaks in to make a start. I don’t have Center Ice to watch other teams yet.
