Celebrating David Danforth Edition
- Surprisingly omitted from the links yesterday (PPP has lost it, clearly) - pray silence for the latest post from Bloge Salming, featuring Leafs having to go out and actually earn some money for once.
- Game reviews for last night's tête-à-tête against Calgary come StraightOuttaSoCal, Fifty Mission Cap, Far Away Leaf and Kavel's Comics. No game review yet from Matchsticks and Gasoline, but this is their game thread. Note lack of dancing .gifs. Amateurs.
- Marlies go down in the shootout to the Manitoba Moose - details here and here if you can tear yourself away from tying that noose just for a sec.
- Maple Leaf Hot Stove makes the case for MMMMBop'ing ottawa on Tuesday with Christian Hanson.
- Another fresh batch of Vintage Leafs, featuring today a flying Wendel.
- The Hockey News gets cosy with Colton Orr - so now you'll have a better idea of what to say to him when you're flirting at the bar. 'Mmmm, I like a bit of Orrsey, me'
- Winning a shootout on one leg, just another night at the office for Rick Nash.
- Non-hockey links for today feature geekery with ultra slow water drops and lolery with....the BATman!

“I like golf. Draw. I like to draw animals – tigers, lions, stuff like that. A little hobby of mine.”
I dunno why but thus line from the Orr piece has me chuckling

It’s pretty much my favorite animal. It’s like a lion and a tiger mixed… bred for its skills in magic.

we already knew he liked to draw
he drew a rabbit on McGrattan’s face last night.. only it was a rabbit after it fought a lawnmower

someone should inform her retro doesn’t mean backwards.. at all
or how to write: “when play wheels the other way, instead of going looping skate-about.”
The media takes a lot of slack when it comes to leafs coverage, but why do people like this get paid to write this crap? The star would be better of simply picking a nice blog article from the millions written for free and pay its writer half of whatever they pay that hack and be done with it

I miss wendel.
He was good. We should get him out of retirement, he’ll still win us some games.

I think when he leaned in to shake Iginla’s hand he said “I could kick your ass”
That’s why it took Iggy almost 2 full periods to get into the game.

new nickname for kessel?
“TRIGGER. "
official song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJAJ4bjTB9g
finger finger, trigger trigger, CLICK CLICK.
feisty crowd at the game on friday night. i got told to sit down twice, shut up once, and some guy gave me a “fuck you toronto”. i didn’t get stabbed though, so it’s all good.
lot of hawks fans sporting jerseys at the game too. i saw one chelios, an amonte, and a secord, but 99% of them were kane or toews. the bandwagon is quite full. there was also a guy with a hawks jersey that said ‘Kessel’ #40. i didn’t know what to make of that one.
Yesterday is dead, but not my memory.

Kessel #40?
that just doesn’t make any sense AT ALL. But it does sound like there’s little leg room in the bandwagon

Ugh, the worst thing is that I now expect Toskala to get some more starts and Gustavsson to rest and work on his troubles in practice…

He’ll be fine Karina. A player that exceeds expectations for any reason should be at least somewhat good, and Jonas is only what, 7 starts into his NHL career?

It’s blog post titles like this one that make sure we’re never going to be able to interview Leaf roster players. :)
My sentiments exactly, mattblack.

who would want to interview matt stajan?
Q: So how do you feel that game went?
MS: well i think it went pretty well.. i mean i hardly ever score so that was a plus for me
Q: Can you describe what was going on when you scored?
MS: Sure. See most of the time I just chase the puck around and get knocked off it and hope somebody else picks it up for us, but tonight it came to me AFTER i got hit. so i just sorta hit it and IT WENT IN!! That was really cool.
Q: Thats more than enough, thanks matt
MS (picking up his cell): Hey Kyle [Wellwood], sure we can go to the “gym” tonight. its only the sens and you know our deal for regular season sens games..
