It's always going to be a fun battle. We've just got to get the crowd out of it early and play hard.

Mike Fisher on the upcoming home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. There are over 3,000 tickets still available. Maybe they should beg the league to move these games back to Saturday nights.

Maybe the SNES

can have a midnight bake sale to sell the remaining tickets? How about a benefit ballet concert, starring Alfie..

I'm going! Got tickets in Section 116 behing the penalty boxes.

Sitting in City Center Airport right now waiting for my flight there…Porter Airlines is the best….free beer on the flight…free wireless at the airport and they gave me a ham sandwich too.

we flew porter to chicago this weekend, and we’ve done a trip to montreal as well. it makes me want to only fly where porter does.

Every game that I have watched at the Palladium/Corel Centre/Scotia Bank Place has been Leafs vs SNES

They are like 3 more home games, except they get cheered more in Kanata than they do in Toronto.

Turns out I have more in common with the citizens of the City that Fun Forgot than I ever imagined: I’m completely indifferent to the SNES too. That team could contract and I wouldn’t even blink.

As a child of the 70s, the Habs have always (and will always) be the Evil Empire with the Flyers, Sabres and the old Norris Division rivals filling out the rest of the top 6.

I’d happily give up games against the SNES for more games gainst each of the Wings, Blues, and Hawks any day.

That would be awesome.

2 more games each against the old Norris division teams.

Count me in for more games against the Wings. I hated the Wings more growing up than either the Habs or Sens, by far.

It's pretty sad tho

There are more Leafs fans in Ottawa than actual SNES fans. Hopefully Stucky’s gonna be there

One of the Team 1200s programming directgors, Phil Melanson AKA Showdog is a Leafs fan…one of their morning hosts is a Devils fan.

There really aren’t any true Sens fans. Sure, there ARE Sens fans but the kids that are allegedly Sens fans future generation are just going to buy Crosby or Ovechkin jerseys down the road/

Nothing team that could have cemented itself with a Cup win two years ago but choked that away too.
I think I’ll wear my new Schenn home jersey to the game tomorrow!

I think you’ll find that they’re going to buy Kadri jerseys.

Can we play all our home games in Ottawa?

by TomK421 on Nov 16, 2009 11:29 PM EST reply actions

Why would Fisher want to get the home crowd “out of it”??

by Johnny Bower's Pokecheck on Nov 17, 2009 1:14 AM EST via mobile reply actions

That's the joke

senators’ home games against the Leafs are not home games for them.

You know your fans are SAD when...

You want to play well and score early in order to get the fans “out of it”…when YOU’RE THE HOME TEAM.

Seriously this makes the ACC suits sound like party animals ;)

WOOO

Going to the game tonight… The only good thing about the SNES existence is it means I get to go to 3 Leafs games a year (though I only got to two last year due to a midterm)…

I can’t believe there are still tickets though, every time I go its always about half Leafs fans, maybe its our record?

Sadly,

The odds of them scoring early and often are a lot higher than I’d like. These are dark times, indeed.

At the Chateau Laurier as we speak! Jersey’s sitting next to me and she’s ready to rock. Hilarious how Ottawa can’t sell tickets all of a sudden—I was at their home opener and was utterly shocked by the number of empty seats. See y’all on the tee-vee.

Blah, this rivalry is DEAD. Remember last game? Neil and Carkner turned down Orr, (wisely), Neil turned down Rosehill. Was there even a body check?

I hope it picks up, after that Calgary game, I want blood! :)

by Cat Smasher on Nov 17, 2009 10:59 AM EST reply actions

Last game was mind numbingly boring. The rivalry was propped up by the constant playoff matchups. Without that it really lost its luster.

Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...

by JohnnyG on Nov 17, 2009 11:08 AM EST up reply actions

with Sundin gone, there’s no longer the rivalry between him and Alfredsson either. They’re just two, not very good teams playing eachother. I have more hate for Carolina because of Paul Maurice, at this point.

I hate Alfredsson, Spezza, Neil, Ruutu, and most sens fans, thus I hate ottawa

but there is no legit hockey rivalry

No Rivalry? Perhaps...

But if we beat the Senators tonight, the sanctimonious bleating from Sens Quadrant will be loud and shrill, as will the questioning from the sanctimonious media.

That alone, and hearing the fellow blue and white booing the opposing captain, adds some lustre to the dreary affair.
That and it’s always nice to have good seats available for Leafs games in Ottawa…
