Cox: Phil Kessel shines amid Leaf gloom
We give the darts, we should give the laurels. A rather nice article singing the praises of Phil Kessel.
Now get off that ledge.

Love, love, love this quote:
Moreover, it’s an indication that Kessel is a player whose game is still developing, anything but a finished product. He was, don’t forget, projected to be a franchise-type player when he was drafted in ’06, a possible No. 1 pick overall who slipped to fifth behind Erik Johnson, Jordan Staal, Jonathan Toews and Nicklas Backstrom.
Phil the Franchise…
I have nothing interesting to say.

or this quote!
Some will argue the Leafs gave up too much to get him, or that he has thus far failed to make the team better.
Both could be right. Both may also prove over the long haul to be very wrong.
(emphasis mine)
it feels weird to enjoy Cox’s articles so much lately…
I have nothing interesting to say.

Having never read him enough when younger to know if Cox ever had a prime (1967 is certainly great) I feel like Cox is the grizzled veteran that re-dedicated himself over the summer and is kicking the rookies and the lazy vets’ asses.
Pension Plan Puppets: A Toronto Maple Leafs blog and a group therapy session.
Has Cox become a post injury recently Leaf Gary Roberts?
Or is this just his Gaborik like tear before the other type of Gaborik type tear?

During the Passion Returns era, Cox was quite good. He would sometimes fill in on The Fan with Gord Stellick and Barb DiGiulio. Sometimes they were hysterical, but those were happier times. Even back in the day, Strachan, Berger and Simmons would piss me off to no end.
Not sure how or why Damien’s writing became so poor and irrelevant post-lockout, but he seems to have turned a corner recently.
