"If we don’t start winning, we have two options," said Burke, who was back in Toronto Wednesday. "One, we make a trade and if I could make one that puts us in the playoffs I would. But they’re hard to make (in the salary cap world) and I think there have only been three of them around the league so far this season.
"Two, we send somebody on a one-way down and call up the kids. That’s the next step. We waive them and send them down and if we lose ‘em (on a waiver claim), we lose ‘em."
A plethora of Brian Burke quotes including this gem above regarding the potential loss of players to the waiver wire.
Also hit upon: Phil Kessel and Burke's playoffs expectations.
I think this might clarify who Brian Burke is, and how he thinks when it comes to his teams.

I, for one, am interested in this man’s ideas and would like to subscribe to his newsletter.

He said this at the beginning of the year, but maybe he wanted to give them a chance first. I dunno. If they lose tonite, Christian Hanson better be in the fuckin lineup on Saturday on a line with Bozak and Kessel

That’s a weak-ass quote from Burke. Why all the modifiers around the first option?
As for waivers, it’s going to really shake this team up when Wallin or Primeau get sent down.

maybe his hands are tied?
maybe what he’s getting offered back isn’t worth making the trade for.
pull the trigger anyways? I’d rather not.
I have nothing interesting to say.

We have two options here Blurr.
1. I can fight with you, but I think you’re a great guy and the tenor of PPP really doesn’t support that sort of activity.
2. I can disagree with you politely and make an effort to back up my positions with well reasoned facts and logic.
