There isn’t a better nickname for a goaltender then The Monster. It’s already a huge part of his mystique.

True Story

Yesterday the weather was so beautiful I took my 2 and a half year old daughter for a long walk to the park. There, at the tennis courts, a game of road hockey was being played by 12 to 14 guys. The goaltenders were wearing full equipment and I thought they must have been really hot. My daughter ran up to the tennis court fencing excitedly to get a closer look and then started shouting and pointing, “A Monster! It’s the Monster, Daddy. It’s the Monster!”

I fell over laughing.

i know all about that, i usually end a game with 5-6 giant slap shot bruises on my chest, arms and legs, part of the game .
of course if you’re playing in the winter a chest protector is used, a frozen no bounce has a similar kinetic dump as a puck (though a less concentrated surface area) and ive cracked ribs stopping those

I kind of picture Bruce Garrioch...

spooning Jared on a bear skin rug, whispering sweet nothings into his ear about the Leafs trading for Nathan Horton.

Savard!

meh

Id rather have Marleau

by JaredFromLondon on Nov 9, 2009 3:12 PM EST up reply actions

I’m afraid we’ll sign Marleau, RW will make him captain, and he’ll suck for the next 3 years.

by birky on Nov 9, 2009 3:17 PM EST up reply actions

nah, Marleau has never sucked

Puns, Innuendo and Bad Spelling, Yes We Got That

by JaredFromLondon on Nov 9, 2009 3:22 PM EST up reply actions

Why wouldnt you want the chemistry between Kessel and Savard? Or is it just that you feel Marleau is a better fit for what we need?

by Matt_Roberts on Nov 9, 2009 3:25 PM EST up reply actions

the second, he is also younger and i think he will sign for less than it would take to get savard

Although depending on how Savard rebounds from injury he may come cheaper.

thats another thing, Savard is injured!

Marleau’s fewest games played in a season – 74
Savard’s fewest games played – 10

I have nothing interesting to say.

Savard is too old. 33 this summer. I’ll pass.

EM EFFIN MARLEAU!

by JaredFromLondon on Nov 9, 2009 4:08 PM EST up reply actions

i'm a big fat liar

that was his year he was traded to Atlanta, (doh!)

fewest games played was 56. I’m a big Marc Savard fan. Never thought his trade was a good idea from the Flames (imagine Iginla and Savard on the same line….) but still think Marleau is one of the most underrated guys in the game.

I have nothing interesting to say.

by blurr1974 on Nov 9, 2009 4:12 PM EST up reply actions

Savard just isn’t a Sutter type player, as pathetic as it is, that’d be the full reason he was traded, I’m sure.

Marleau

is not a “Sutter” player either, yet he lasted and Sutter didn’t.

I have nothing interesting to say.

by blurr1974 on Nov 9, 2009 4:22 PM EST up reply actions

Sutter wasn’t GM there, was he?

coach

which he was in Calgary at the time of Savard’s trade as well as GM.

I have nothing interesting to say.

by blurr1974 on Nov 9, 2009 4:57 PM EST up reply actions

yeah

if he hadn’t been GM in Calgary, I think it’d make more sense to be upset about Savard being traded.

But if I was a Calgary fan, I’d just be upset that Sutter is the GM, period.

Rangers

so Dubinsky is out 6-8 weeks, and Drury has a concussion so who knows how long he’ll be out.
Stajan, anyone?
