He's essentially blaming Green
And while I agree Green shouldn’t have been so lackadaisical on the play, why is it that the game has devolved into the state where the victim is to blame for being run from behind? Why is there no responsibility for the guy laying the hit? Koci could have laid into him, but he still chose to drive him hard into the boards.

I should add, Koci saddled him into the boards when he knew, he knew Green wasn’t looking. Green’s fault for not being aware? Perhaps, but respect also has to do with making a decision not to murder a guy in that kind of vulnerable spot, ie. back is turned, rather than a simple head down.

I dont think he was blaming Green at all. He is just saying that Green shouldnt have gone to sleep on the back check. If he’d been paying attention and seen Koci coming then there wouldnt have been a problem.
He never once absolved Koci of blame, he is just pointing out that there is a safer way to do things
He even said that it was stupid that there was no suspension, i dont see how that takes blame away from Koci

I didn’t say he didn’t absolve Koci for the hit. But his viewpoint is still noticeably against Green. It’s still the debate about blaming the victim on the play. Player all have a responsibility ultimately on head shots, especially with the disturbing but unsurprising report about extensive head injuries found on a recently deceased NHL player.
