Leafs at Islanders
Puck Drop: 7PM Leafs TV
Dominik's Islanders-centric preview!
Another team we've seen a lot of recently has been the Islanders. After an OT loss exactly one month ago that saw the Leafs throw 60 shots at Dwayne Roloson the Leafs blew a 2-0 lead to a pair of Tavares power play goals before ex-Islander Jason Blake scored the game winner.
Near the end of last season Jason Blake scored a shootout game winner on Long Island and I'm crossing my fingers that he'll bury his old team again since I'll be in attendance on Long Island.
Gustavsson gets the start for the Leafs, he's posted a .944 save percentage since coming back from his second heart surgery and a 1.60 GAA. Let's hope he continues his strong play to give everyone a non denominational winter holiday gift. Viktor Stalberg hurt his shoulder and will be out, meaning Rickard "Terrible Player" Wallin will inexplicably get to play another game in the NHL.
Don't forget your SPG picks and go Leafs go.

If grievances are being aired today, is this game the Feats of Strength?

If you want to flip during commercials, Cuthbert’s commentary between plays, or that horrible horrible song, go over to TSN as it is airing a WJH exhibition game between Canada and Czech. (7PM start as well)

This one better be on Center Ice. Last game was blacked out on sportsnet, but I could not find it with all the other center ice games like I usually do, I was not very happy. Waste of $200 otherwise.
I know this isn’t about the Leafs or Islanders, but I was wasting time on NHLnumbers and saw that Alex Semin is an RFA after this season. Call me crazy, but would it make sense for the Caps to trade him and go after a UFA goalie like Nabokov? They will already have to resign Backstrom, probably to a deal worth more than 5 or 6 million per season.
I’m not saying Semin to the leafs are anything like that. Just wondering aloud.
maybe
though don’t they have a few more years on Theodore’s contract? They also seem pretty high on Varlamov, so I don’t think I can really see them going after a goalie.

ah
thanks!
Then that’s very interesting, I could definitely see them going after someone like Nabokov or Turco.

I believe it when I see it. There haven’t been any big name players still in their prime to leave yet.
Radulov?
is he really any less of a “name” than Semin?
