Truculence Tracker: Phil Kessel v. Kris Russell

This is something new for this season that'll hopefully track all of the Leafs' fights this season. Thanks to Hockey-Fights this time for the video although it sure seems like their website name is kind of familiar. I can't quite put my finger on it...

This wasn't much of a fight. Anyone with eyes can see that. Hell, even Phil the Thrill knows that:

"All right, it was more of a wrestling match," said Kessel, who, after the room had cleared, asked a reporter, "I won the fight, though, right? I got the W?"

Yes Phil, you got the W. I'd say jerseying the other guy and landing the only punch in the fight deserves the judges' decision. I'd add a poll but that's making my browser crash so let's just vote in the comments. The better part was what it represented. As Burke noted during the intermission, opposition teams aren't face-washing the Leafs as much and they definitely are not teeing up on them as much as last year. Part of that is having a killer like Colton Orr roaming the ice but the other part is that the team isn't taking it anymore. Hell, Tomas Kaberle got into a scrum last night and would not stop!

Kessel, when asked about the fight, said that it was just a matter of being fed up with Kris Russel's non-stop cross-checking. Of course, it came out more like "Well, ya know he was cross-checking me purty hard donchaknow so I made 'im stahp".

This is without question the lamest fight in NHL history that I’ve ever been incredibly pumped about.

Down Goes Brown - Unapologetically nostalgic for the past. Brutally realistic about the present. Grudgingly optimistic about the future.

I was checking the stats to see if he picked up an assist that game too but 2 goals is plenty fine :)

Sadly, no.

Ron Wilson joked about the same thing in the post-match interview; though I think a Phill Kessel Gordie Howe hat-trick would have been too awesome for this reality to take.

The choo-choo train left right on time. A ticket costs only your mind.
The driver said, "Hey, man, we go all the way. Of course we were willing to pay.

Doesn’t anyone have video of the aftermath? Kessel laughing, in the box with Colton Orr…….

I am Mikhail Grabovski's smirking revenge.

That

was awesome.

He was so happy to go to the box. Ear-to-ear smile

Colton Kessel

Or something along those lines.

Boo hoo!

I assume the lack of a poll on this one is due to the obviously unanimous decision on the winner.

I have nothing interesting to say.

Yes

Also, trying to add a poll is crashing my work computer :(
