Less Than Zero or a Hazy Shade of Winter?

In my neck of sunny California, the mercury is dipping dangerously close to zero. To compound the issue, there is a storm rolling in with a chance of showers. Depending on how things go, I may be waking up to snow in the morning. Weird. I haven't seen snow on the ground here in over 10 years. Yay?
Anyhoo, despite an off night, there's still plenty to talk about and that's why you're here. Right?
- The holidays always bring a flood of festive specials, and the Barilosphere is no exception. Loser Domi kicks off the celebrations with a "Holiday Kesstacular!" Meanwhile, in her other gig, LD is still trying to find out if there is anything Ryan Hollweg is qualified for.

Damn straight. You’ll be hearing from my attorneys shortly, jr.

If I just brick myself in the face, can we avoid this…unpleasantness?

Dammit. Anybody know whether there’s an extradition treaty between Mabel and Peru?

No snow here either, but cars on the road had tons of snow on their roofs which means nearby got plenty.

Thought...
Was reading this article about the Leafs’ home woes, when a quote from Ian White popped out at me:
“Personally, I love playing here. It’s your building, so everything is natural to me. The drive to the rink is the same, you know where you’re going to eat pre-game and you spend (quality) time at home. I’m not sure why we struggle as we do.”
It got me to thinking that maybe the team isn’t “tense” at all. Perhaps they should take a page from the Stanley Cup winning Tampa Bay Lightning, and stay in a hotel while playing home games. Would it hurt them to try something different? I realize it might be difficult for their families, seeing as little of them as they do, and I’m not saying permanently, but just a switch from routine for a few games.
I have nothing interesting to say.

Mad respect
on the Joey Gladstone reference. Much needed on a Monday.
I’m going to tonight’s game; Toskala is starting. FUCK MY LIFE.
A Toronto sports blog, where unabashed homerism is alive and well...
Hmmm, I have my only tix of the year for Wednesday vs. the Isles. Since VeTo will likely get shelled tonight, I would guess it’s looking a lot like Joey Joe Joe Junior Shabadoo for me. Better start hoping for an out-of-this-world “goalie scorned” kind of vibe from Joey Joe Joe.
And eye…FML? Really? Dude, you were in the press box last week and back at the game this week. It could be a lot worse!

This is true.
But that game last Monday was bloody bollocks. Just awful. Fucking Ryan Miller. And now Toskala. Ugh.
But you’re right. I take it back. I take all of it back!!!1

hey i have tickets to the game as well, where are you sitting?
There is no "I" in team, but there is an "M" and an "E"
Not 100% sure – my tix are at home and it’s been more than a year since I last prevailed upon my friend to let me use his seats – but IIRC, we’re in the upper bowl way the hell up there in one of the corners (though I can’t remember which one – section 324 rings a bell for me, but I can’t say for sure, I’ve had a lot of head injuries.)
Where you gonna be at?

Garnet Exelby back in against his former team. Jeff Finger scratched. Rickard Wallin in as well.

Wallin over Hanson?

I mean seriously, What the hell has Finger done to earn a spot in Wilson’s doghouse, The guy plays good whenever he is in the lineup, Yes his contract is slightly more then it probably should but it could be more justified if he actually played.
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
his contract is only too much because he got buried in the depth chart. If he was playing where intended when Fletcher inked that deal he’d on the leafs second pairing

by JaredFromLondon on Dec 7, 2009 11:34 AM EST up reply actions
it does
only because I’d rather see Hanson developed as a top 6 power forward than a bottom 6 grinder.
in the Marlies he’ll get a chance to go back to learning the offensive side of the game, and be given top PP minutes.
I have nothing interesting to say.
by blurr1974 on Dec 7, 2009 11:32 AM EST up reply actions
To be honest Im not sure Hanson has a top 6 player in him.
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
i think he does. not first line, but second with PP net presence. his hands will never be silky smooth but he got more than his share of scoring chances. he needs some polish though

well, given he’s 23 and he’s seen all of 11 games in the NHL, I’m sure your assessment is bang on…
I have nothing interesting to say.

Oh come on, don’t do that. I wasn’t attacking anyone.
But the same could be said with people saying he has top 6 potential. Its too early to tell, one way or the other.
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
i didn't say potential
i said developed.
11 games is too early to say he doesn’t have the potential. my initial point being just that. 11 games. That’s all he’s been given so far.
Nothing wrong with having some patience…
I have nothing interesting to say.

Wow Berger, Nice job.
On HockeyCentral at noon Quotes Atlanta’s great road record and the Leafs poor home record and then says something’s gotta give…
Umm No. If they were both great records or both bad records THEN something has to give, but not in this situation.
