I nearly choked my tea when I saw Timonen on that list…

Как же так может быть?

Finger, really? $3.5 million for Finger is worse than LEAGUE MAX for Scott “11 goals” Gomez?

C'mon Jammies

It’s Vancouver, they gotta throw in something from Toronto to bash to appease their inferiority-complex

There’s no way the Finger contract is worse than Blake’s, even now.

It’s still a horrible contract.

Don’t know that the two can be separated, like saying: “It’s not so bad that my partner cheated on me, it’s just that I can’t stand the guy she picked.”

Gotta disagree with some of those, how could they forget:

Eric Staal – $8.25M to 2016 (not even a ppg player; on pace for 35 goals)
Brad Richards – $7.8M to 2011 (four straight years of declining production)
Scott Gomez – $7.3M to 2014 (goals scored past 2 years: 13, 16; on-pace for 16)
Paul Kariya – $6M to 2011 (his career has been an injury waiting to happen)

you can see the Canuck bias/inferiority complex by going after Smyth (still revered in EDM) a Canadien and former Flame, a Leaf, a former Sen and a current Sen.

agreed – all of those should be on there.

and if Finger’s on the list, then Scott Hannan should be as well. 30 yrs old, 4 pts and a -10 this year, making $4.5M a year for another 2 years.

Clicked it, saw “theprovince” in the address bar, killed the tab before it loaded. That crap will rot your brain.

Best part of the article
The craziest part about DiPietro’s 15-year, $67.5-million deal isn’t that it’s the longest deal in NHL history — it’s that the Isles are still paying for the buyout of Alexei Yashin’s 10-year, $87.5-million contract, the second-longest in NHL history. And they’ll be doing that until 2014-15, to the tune of a whopping $2.2 million per season. If you think about it, it’s kind of like marrying a stripper, divorcing her, saying "Phew, glad that’s over, all that’s left is the alimony," and then remembering you married another stripper before you divorced the first one.

I agree with all of the criticisms of the article noted above – but that part is funny.

For an easy topic

That’s a poor list. Timonen’s contract, evidently, is lousy because Briere makes too much money for them to sign Coburn a few years from now?

I’ve never seen why Finger’s contract is so bad. He’s overpaid; that’s the transaction cost they paid to acquire him. He plays more, scores more, gets paid less than Cory Sarich; why isn’t Sarich’s contract one of the worst in the league?

I've been looking at the sky

last I checked...

Sarich wasn’t a Leaf.

Also, the writer would need to have a bit of hockey knowledge, and perhaps do some research. It’s not like this is a “Brian Burke Twitter” expose…
