Can any pull up the details of Bell’s salary and contract? I don’t understand why the Rangers are taking up MORE salary when their payroll is less then half a mil under the cap as it is.

Though I doubt anyone will want to trade for him, since they could have gone him for free like the Rangers (but I didn’t see him getting claimed either, so what do I know), Bell just looks like a player to change some of the same old, same old with the Rangers and add a little grit to an otherwise lethargic and soft-ish team. I’m guessing Voros (and Avery) will also get more ice time to add that toughness.

Still seems nonsensical to me, they have barely any room in the payroll as is, and Sather still seems hell-bent on bringing Avery back.

I just figured...

Maybe the Rangers are looking for the edge Voros was providing earlier, that Avery used to have. Or maybe Sather finally succumbed to full out dementia.

A pretty curious move, actually, especially when we’ve been hearing for weeks that Sean Avery was going to be the player the Blueshirts wanted off re-entry waivers. New York’s very tight against the cap, and even at half his salary, Bell is due $1.25-million.
He also has not been all that impressive in the AHL, so I’m not quite sure what the Rangers brass are thinking here.

Bell’s $2.17M salary breaks down to $11,361 per day. As he was a waiver claim, Leafs and Rangers split the cap hit.
That’s $5680 per day for the Rangers and Leafs.
