Marlies Acquire Four New Players

As per News Releases sent to our Terrorism Division it looks like the Marlies have added a tonne of depth. Of what quality isn't entirely sure. Naturally, whatever level of quality that may be it will be downgraded immediately:

Jeff Jackson, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today that the club has acquired Ashton Rome on reassignment from the San Jose Sharks. In addition, the Marlies signed defencemen Jeremy Swanson and Andrew Martens to professional try-out contracts. The club has also acquired Jay Rosehill from the Norfolk Admirals in exchange for future considerations. In addition, the Marlies loaned forward Tyler Doig to their ECHL affiliate, the Reading Royals.

Rome, 23, appeared in 52 games this season with the Phoenix Roadrunners of the ECHL. He collected 25 goals and 19 assists for 44 points with Phoenix this season and 118 penalty minutes. The 6’1, 202-pound native of Nesbitt, Manitoba ranks first on the Roadrunners in goals and second in points. Rome played in three AHL games this season with the Worcester Sharks collecting zero points and two penalty minutes. He spent the previous two seasons with Worcester, collecting 26 points (15 goals, 11 assists) in 125 games.

Swanson, 24, appeared in 31 games this season with the Phoenix Roadrunners of the ECHL. He collected four goals and two assists for six points with Phoenix this season along with 51 penalty minutes. The 6’0, 208-pound native of Redrock, Ontario skated in 13 games with the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL prior to joining the Roadrunners and totaled two assists and 12 penalty minutes.

Martens, 27, skated in 48 games with the Ontario Reign of the ECHL this season and collected 31 points (seven goals, 24 assists) with 78 penalty minutes. The 6’1, 205-pound rearguard played in 11 games earlier this season with the Manitoba Moose and tallied five assists.

Rosehill, 23, has appeared in 57 games this season with the Admirals collecting 12 points (five goals, seven assists) and a plus-five rating. The Olds, Alberta native ranks third in the AHL with 221 penalty minutes. Rosehill is a versatile player, starting games this season as both a forward and defenceman for Norfolk.
Rosehill was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh-round, 227th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Tyler Doig, 23, played in five games with the Marlies, collecting zero points and 16 penalty minutes. The Seaforth, Ontario native has 43 points (11 goals, 32 assists) in 50 games this season with the Reading Royals.
