Dad barely recognized his son [Tlusty] as he watched him skate in a game for the Maple Leafs. The player was uptight and pressing, not enjoying the game.
"He was like, 'You know what? You look so nervous out there. Don't be nervous.' Focus on the things I did when I was younger," [Jiri] said. "I always try to listen to my dad. He knows better how I play than anybody else. After they left, I was a different person."
That's different, as in unstoppable. In his last 19 games, Tlusty has cranked out 36 points (16-20). The run includes one contest with five goals and another with six points.

Relax, don't do it
I tried relaxing in a beer league game, and all it did was get the puck stolen from me.
But then again, I’m not very good.

His pairing with Tim Stapleton and Bates Battaglia has produced a mind meld of dipsy-doodling and a steady river of points.
That’s some damn fine writering right there.
Family reunions
This is pretty well the same role that papa Kaberle plays every time he comes to watch his boys. Though he seems like quite the hard ass. Some teams have organized a road trip with a parent in past years and for this reason I think we should continue the trend. The logistics might be tough with the european parents, but I’m sure that even for vikings, raping and pillaging has a slow period. And of course, they should do it early in the year when the points still mean something.
so as not to jinx it...
I’m thinking of buying a Marlies jersey with Tlusty’s name and number.
that’ll be OK, right?

Why the hell is he not up
with the big team? Oh yeah, because we are developing Brad May for the future. Worst move of last year: Trading Belak. NObody is scared of Brad May, and that includes me. Belak would keep the Islanders from acting up.
I was ok with the Belak trade, cause really a 5th rounder for him isn’t too bad. Too bad we blew it by trading it for Hollweg, who I hear is a dick, but them’s the breaks.
I am however, glad that Tlusty hasn’t been called up recently. I think him leading the Marlies, having it develop into his team, gaining chemistry with Stapleton, participating in the playoffs and getting loads of ice time in different settings is really important for his develop. Let him try at camp next year for a top 6 job. He’s a scorer, plain and simple, and the only way for him to improve on that is to get ice time.
If this is Burke’s plan for him, I’m 100% behind it. No more yo-yoing this poor kid.
I like him as a player, and I think it’s good to let him work out some kinks, and polish himself up a bit before getting into the big club. AT this point in his career 4 minutes of ice time will not help him the way getting bigger minutes with the Marlies
Making stuff up since real Leafs news is far too depressing

Intentional or not, you are coming very close to crossing the line of good taste with the Tlusty double entendres.
… and polish himself up a bit
And there we are.

If you’ve got the NHL network, they’re showing the Marlies @ Rochester right now…
