Around the NHL in Eight Links
A weekly look at the wider hockey world, via our friends, friendly rivals and sworn blood enemies here at SB Nation.
- Ticket prices aren't going up everywhere, you'll be amazed to hear, I'm sure. It still seems like a lot of loot just to watch the Devils though. (In Lou We Trust).
- A spot of Redden-bashing from our/your backward provincial cousins, kindly brought to you by new housemates, Blueshirt Banter.
- Continuing the theme of linking to the newer folk, Raw Charge has a piece pleading for caution with head-dinged goalie, Mike Smith.
- The single truth that we've all always known, the Canadiens are bad for your health. Soon they will be banned in all public areas. (Habs Eyes on The Prize)
- Who doesn't miss Owen Nolan? Be honest now, who? Fish, that's who. (Hockey Wilderness).
- Second City Hockey - Rapidly becoming the comedy gold of the Western Conference.
- For two stolen minutes, live vicariously on the bubble with the Predators and On The Forecheck.
- Some top(?) 'shopping - if you're into that kind of thing. Over 9000 hours in MS Paint, with Nucks Misconduct. And hey, they're as bad at centring images as PPP! Editor's Note: It's Chemmy that can't centre a picture to save his life. I can't avoid typos for sme reason.

I’m making Mattblack write all of the apologies I’m going to need to send out this week.

Can I get an apology?
I like it when men apologize to me, and it happens so rarely (despite it frequently being called for)

I will try to use this power only for good, but I make no promises.
Additionally, I fixed my non image centering ways. PPP hasn’t fixed his tpyos.

The really scary thing about the JFJ era is that getting Owen Nolan is nowhere near being the worst trade the Leafs have made in the last ten years.

Raycroft. Hands down.

Deffo.
But it takes a lot to beat Boyes, McCauley and a 1st for Nolan…

but
not quite because the Sharks also gave up on Boyes, so it’s more like McCauley + a 1st.
Who did the 1st end up being?

San Jose traded it to Boston to move up and select Steve Bernier. Boston selected Mark Stuart 21st overall. Meh.

Our first pick in that draft ws John Doherty 57th overall.

it was a pretty deep draft though. Lot’s of guys from the 03 draft have seen playing time in the NHL, including the second last pick of the draft, the sens goalie of the future, brian elliot…

But to be infuriating: here’s what was left on the table:
Mike Richards 24th
Cory Perry 28th
Loui Eriksson 33rd
Patrice Bergeron 45th
Shea Weber 49th
Patrik O’Sullivan, Maxim Lapierre, Lee Stempniak, Joe Pavelski, Dustin Byfuglien

i hate looking at those things.
you know the Leafs could have drafted Lucic instead of Kulemin…
no way to tell how those two will shake out, but the idea of having Lucic putting Bruins through the glass while wearing a Leafs jersey would be pretty sweet…

GREAT QUOTE from Eyes on the Prize
As usual on Saturdays, whether the Habs win or lose, I head out for a few posts game wobbly pops. Heading out the front door, I stood on my porch step and watched as the owner of a car across the street removed his Canadiens flag and placed it in his trunk.
That’s depressing! Even worse is wondering when the dude will have it back up.

I feel no empathy for him. 25 cups is no reason to be a band wagoner.

Can’t feel any love for Habs fans. They’ll rub those 25 cups in your face any chance they get. So to them I say: hahahaha!
PPP- I use Photoshop, and I don’t spend much time doing them as you can tell by their quality :)
OK OK, I’ll learn how to center images, even though I should shrink them, leave them positioned left, and then wrap the text around them more often. I got code for that, if you want to borrow it from me :)
