Bruins at Leafs: Pogge Time

Chillin, you?
I was worried last night that I was so drunk I forgot Pogge's number, but it turned out he was wearing #1 last night in Buffalo. I'm not sure I approve of our goalie prospect not wearing #29 but he had 14 saves on 15 shots last night and didn't look like a soggy bag of crap, so maybe the number change was helpful.
The Leafs will get phenomenal Phinnish phenom Nik Hagman back in the lineup and the Bruins will be without Phil Kessel tonight. Tomas Kaberle remains out.
The Bruins are the talk of the Eastern Conference, but the Leafs haven't played them since January. Let's hope the new look Leafs do their usual Saturday night awesome job and send the Bruins home without two points tonight.

No. 1 Goalies should always wear the no.1.

I would agree, but that number still has Raycrap stink all over it.

Raycroft isn’t a no. 1 goalie.

I always thought it was strange that they gave Gerber Pogge’s number.

and then pogge takes it back while gerber is suspended.

They have it on timeshare agreement.
Pogge gets it on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Gerber gets it the rest of the time.

I remember reading an article in the paper (by Howard Berger, of all people) after Gerber’s debut that said he was the first Leaf goalie to wear #29 since Felix Potvin. Oops. Or, you know, since last month. One or the other.

Without Gerber’s suspension I don’t think there was any intention to bring up Pogge again this year. AHL playoffs are very near and the Marlies aren’t a lock to get in, plus, I keep hearing Pogge hasn’t “earned” a call-up yet. Giving Gerber #29 was a none too subtle way of sending that message.
With Joseph dropping the ball last night, Pogge gets a real (not contrived) opportunity to impress, one he probably wouldn’t have had if not for the Gerberserker.

in all respects I think he played pretty well last night, he was spastic a few times, but settled down pretty well

I thought he was good. The 5th Buffalo goal was a bit unlucky. I’m pretty confident that Pogge can play better then Joseph did last night.

I think once he settles into the NHL and isnt called up dropped down every game he will start to come to form
but he really needs to play well in the AHL playoffs, to prove to Burkie and himself that he is ready

Performance in the AHL does not translate to the NHL. Every game that Pogge gets in the NHL now is a step closer to becoming a regular Leaf down the road. I’m glad Pogge is getting the chance to start tonight.

I'm not happy.
The Leafs better win tonight. That’s all I’m saying.

I personally would like the bruins to be able to string together more than 1 win at a time.
